00:05for one of the biggest games you ever play as a club at home to Manchester United.

00:11They're not the team they were, we know that,

00:14but they're still an expensively compiled side

00:17that pose danger and worry for any team on their day.

00:22Saints having possession at the back, it's there, they've got to be careful.

00:26Now Dibbling does brilliantly, turns his defender,

00:29he runs over halfway, the 18-year-old going towards the penalty area,

00:32still going strong, tries to curl it left-footed,

00:35saved by Onana, and it's pushed back out,

00:38and it couldn't quite get cleanly to Brereton Diaz to put the follow-up towards goal,

00:42but Tyler Dibbling, first Premier League start, 18 years old,

00:46no problem, dropped the shoulder on Dalot and spun him out of the game.

00:50That's a good ball from Martinez to Eriksen,

00:52Eriksen early on to Fernandes, helps it on to Diallo,

00:56Diallo gets possession, the Ivorian in the box,

00:59he's tricky with his right foot, he wants it on his left,

01:01he dummies the shot, plays it to Eriksen,

01:03ball to the back post, Xherxen should score!

01:05And he doesn't, he doesn't get a good contact on the topo,

01:08Gramsdale saves it, and it's cleared away by Sugawara towards halfway.

01:12First chance for United in the 15th minute,

01:14and really, Joshua Xherxen should have put them ahead.

01:17Brereton Diaz takes Masri with him infield,

01:20drops it off to Ugo Chukwua, he finds a good early forward ball,

01:23and Walker-Peters has stayed up, Dalot facing him,

01:25edge of the box, goes round him, Walker-Peters, narrow angle,

01:28pulls it back towards the edge of the six-yard area,

01:30and Eriksen beats Brereton Diaz to it.

01:32And then the ball cleared excellently from Masri,

01:34and it might set Diallo on his way,

01:36slowed up by Ugo Chukwua, but he's got a man to his left,

01:39and here's Bruno Fernandes, Fernandes in the penalty area,

01:42flashes it across the six-yard box, it'll go out for a goal kick,

01:45and he doesn't get a corner, and he realised he'd messed it up,

01:48and he wanted to make it look like it had come off a defender,

01:51but it wasn't great from Fernandes, and Diallo did well,

01:54but United turning Saints' attack into an outstanding counter-attack.

01:58And that's a good ball from Dibbling,

02:00and Chukwua has gone on the run, he's tried to cut inside the defender,

02:03he's done him as well, still going, Chukwua!

02:05Great defending from De Ligt, somehow got the ball away from the penalty area

02:09with a lunge in front of his keeper, that's as close as Saints have come,

02:12because that could have gone anywhere.

02:14Then they try and play in behind Masri, he recovers well,

02:17and the ball out for a Saints throw near the corner flag,

02:20and on this near side the Moroccans defending was excellent.

02:24Samson have shown such good invention in this game,

02:27and as you said, I guess the biggest thing is the amount of opportunities

02:31they're creating and how deep they're getting into United's half,

02:34and how forward-thinking they are.

02:36It's like they've got a renewed confidence after the international break.

02:39Dibbling down the right wing, trying to drag the ball past Dalot

02:42as he looks up and he goes again, he still goes past Dalot,

02:45fouls him once more, it's just too good.

02:48Too many tricks up his sleeve for Dalot to deal with.

02:51Free kick, five yards from the corner flag on the far side,

02:54five players around the penalty spot in red and white shirts.

02:57The blue shirts are Manchester United defend, it's curled in,

03:00free header for Ugo Chukwua, and he couldn't direct it under the crossbar.

03:04And he is a tall, gangly, lithe figure, Leslie Ugo Chukwua,

03:09and really, he should have done better with that, he rose above United,

03:14no-one made any contact with him in the end,

03:16and now there's more time and space for Dibbling to go one-on-one

03:19with Diogo Dalot again.

03:21Dibbling drives Dalot to the byline once more,

03:23and Dalot gets the challenge in, it looks a little sloppy, penalty!

03:28He thinks he got the ball, VAR will decide if he did,

03:32Stuart Atwell's awarded the penalty, and it was just the little delay

03:36in the tapping pass Dalot that sucked him in,

03:40and Dibbling drew him into the lunge,

03:42and just left the forward tap as late as he could to make Dalot contact him.

03:47Lovely from Dibbling, if he hasn't got the ball...

03:49No, he hasn't gotten the ball there, Dibbling gets it,

03:52puts the ball in front of him, runs and uses his space,

03:54puts his toe on the ball in the same moment Dalot tackles,

03:59Dalot doesn't get anything off the ball from my view here,

04:02and it's a clear penalty.

04:04Andre Onana, the Cameroon goalkeeper, is on his goal line.

04:08Referee Stuart Atwell is ready,

04:11Archer, saved!

04:13Follow-up, he's saved as well from Archer.

04:16And Saints miss the chance to take the lead against Manchester United,

04:21it's a massive moment in the game, it might be a massive moment in the season.

04:25He can drop 5% on Saints and give 5% to United in an instant,

04:29and that can make a massive difference as Rashford gets it just over halfway,

04:32Joshua Xherxey, Xherxey has the night, Rashford going ahead of him,

04:35he gives it back first time, it's clever,

04:37Dalot comes in, and it's gone just wide off Ramsdale who got a tip to it,

04:41for a moment I thought it had rolled inside the post at the northern end,

04:44but it was saved by Ramsdale.

04:46Xherxey takes the corner short on the far side,

04:48the United left between the Kingsland stand and the northern,

04:50and it's swung into the heart of the penalty, and that is 1-0!

04:53Nobody marking, no flag, Saints are behind,

04:57and Manchester United having recovered from conceding a penalty missed by Archer,

05:03scores for Matthias De Ligt who gets his first Manchester United goal,

05:07the summer signing from Bayern Munich,

05:09and five minutes after Saints were awarded a penalty,

05:12it's United who take the lead at St. Mary's,

05:15ten minutes to half-time, Southampton 0-1 Manchester United,

05:19a header from Matthias De Ligt.

05:21Saints have had three on target,

05:23they've had more touches in United's box than they've had in theirs, 12-8,

05:27they've made four saves as well, but they're still losing,

05:32but they've played well.

05:33Here's Fernandes, that's a great ball,

05:35across to Downs who falls over.

05:37Literally falls over the ball as it comes to him,

05:4120 yards out with a bit of space to perhaps unload a shot,

05:44and straightaway Saints look stretched as United break,

05:47and Rashford's in behind, and Rashford's at the edge of the six-yard area,

05:50and Ramsdale comes off his line and smothers the shot brilliantly,

05:53and it's the United corner, but they're finding so much joy

05:56down this right-hand side for United.

06:02and again Eriksen drills it all the way across the penalty area,

06:05it's going to be kept in by Amad Diallo.

06:07And the young Ivorian has Rashford on the left-hand corner of the penalty,

06:10he wants to get it onto his right foot, he does, he shoots!

06:12Comes in off the post, and United are 2-0 up,

06:15and a horribly out-of-form Marcus Rashford

06:18might have just got his season up and running with a goal against Southampton.

06:22Ramsdale can't believe the shot wasn't closed down,

06:25and the Saints can't believe it went in off the post.

06:27It's Saints-0, Manchester United-2, we've had 41 minutes,

06:31and two goals in six minutes have put this game

06:34very, very badly out of Saints' reach at the moment.

06:37Out as far as Masrui, and he looks up, drills it back in,

06:41no-one's got Diallo, Diallo's square, into De Ligt,

06:44he nearly gets a second, Ramsdale with a brilliant save,

06:47there are too many blue shirts unmarked in the Saints' penalty area,

06:50and they almost punish them again, and Ramsdale has kept Saints in it once more.

06:54We're standing with our hands in the pocket, Adam,

06:56it could have created a better angle on the pass, that's what I'm looking for.

06:59Diallo picks it up and again creates a nuisance,

07:01he's got a man on his outside, sliding into the near post,

07:04and the archer, I think Ramsdale had to make a save, did he?

07:07Yes, referee very slow, Linesman gives the corner,

07:11out to Amad Diallo, Diallo with his twinkle toes,

07:14gets it back on the inside, it's a lovely bit of play from him,

07:17then Zirk's who tries to almost take it past the defender himself,

07:20can't keep control, Rashford will have a curl,

07:22and Ramsdale tips it over the bar.

07:25Lovely effort from Marcus Rashford, 25 yards out,

07:29fully looking for the top corner,

07:31Sugawara, right-hand corner of the penalty area,

07:33and then tried to get it back off Fernandes,

07:36who was a bit of a tired touch from the Portuguese,

07:38then Garnaccio, well, Garnaccio is absolutely...

07:41I mean, he's still rolling, to be honest, it's quite funny,

07:44but Stephens knew he wasn't getting there,

07:46he's wiped out Alejandro Garnaccio with a proper reducer.

08:18Saints don't go like a team that believe

08:20they can get back in it with ten minutes.

08:22United look like a team that are comfortable at 2-0.

08:30but might fall for Xerxe!

08:32Xerxe's shot blocked by Harwood-Bellis, brilliant,

08:34cos Mane, who's touched to him, was fantastic,

08:37and Xerxe wonders what he's going to do to score today.

08:40This time it was Harwood-Bellis who stood there

08:42with his big frame and got in the way.

08:44As the ball gets to Dalot behind the back, back to Garnaccio,

08:46and that rounds things off nicely for Manchester United.

08:49It's 3-0, with 15 seconds to go of stoppage time,

08:55and United celebrate with their away fans away to my left.

08:59Garnaccio off the bench to score this afternoon,

09:03and the 20-year-old Argentinian completes a punishing afternoon

09:08for Southampton, who have lost their fourth straight Premier League game,

09:12from missing the penalty to conceding the first goal.

09:16That is another defeat for Saints.

09:18On their return to the Premier League, the international break's finished,

09:21but the defeats have continued.

09:23It's a fourth straight loss for Southampton,

09:25as the Premier League continues to be a tough learning ground for them.
