00:00One of the three major aborigines of the Malay Peninsula,

00:01the Semang people,

00:02is one of the smallest ethnic groups in the world.

00:08The Semang people,

00:08also known as the Black People,

00:10are one of the three major aborigines of the Malay Peninsula.

00:12This year, the population is estimated to be more than 4,000 people,

00:15and they are divided into Pili, Pengheng, Kedah and Kandah.

00:17They are considered to be the earliest aborigines

00:19on the Malay Peninsula,

00:21and they lived here before the 3rd century.

00:23The Semang people are also one of the smallest ethnic groups in the world.

00:26The average height of an adult male is about 153 cm,

00:29and the average height of a female is about 142 cm.

00:32In the 19th century, the Semang people became slaves.

00:34They were in a state of loneliness in the 19th century.

00:36After the colonial government banned slavery,

00:38they legislated to protect the aborigines.

00:41The Semang people are called Sakai on the Malay Peninsula,

00:44which means the black people,

00:45the slaves or the barbarians.

00:47But now, this name is considered to be very despicable.

00:50Only Thailand remains with this name.
