00:00But the first and foremost, Joe, is a rare non-conference matchup between a Big Ten power
00:09and an SCC power.
00:11That's Alabama and Wisconsin.
00:13The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide make the road trip up to Madison and Camp Randall for the
00:18first time since 1928 in nearly a century.
00:23Three consecutive years, though, for Bama going on the road for a non-conference matchup,
00:28two of the three against a power conference foe would not be able to tell that from the
00:33line.
00:34It's nearly 17 points to go in favor of the Crimson Tide.
00:37How lopsided do you think the game could look today inside Camp Randall?
00:39Well, if Jalen Milrow and that offense get cooking the way they did in regards to the
00:44final eight minutes against USF, it could be lights out against Tyler Van Dyke in this
00:48one-dimensional offense for Wisconsin.
00:50Now the line opened up at 16-and-a-half.
00:53It fluctuated down to 15-and-a-half midweek.
00:55It's back up now to 16-and-a-half.
00:57You might even see 17s in regards to this number, Kev, but these teams squared off back
01:02in 2015 on a neutral field was the last time in regards to the last 50, 60 years that these
01:08teams played.
01:09Bama won that matchup by 18 points.
01:11Gonna come down to the speed of Bama.
01:13If they can exploit that secondary over the top and score first, that could put the pressure
01:17on Tyler Van Dyke.
01:19This offense, guys, only averaging for Wisconsin 200 passing yards per game.
01:24They got a non-cover and a win against Western Michigan.
01:27A non-cover and a win against South Dakota.
01:29They need a better effort in the passing game today to at least cover this number.
01:33And I think they'll get it.
01:34I'm on the over in this game at 48-and-a-half.
01:36It's my favorite total on today's slate is Alabama-Wisconsin over that number at 48-and-a-half.
01:41Part of that is Tyler Van Dyke.
01:42I know it's a new system, but this is a kid who's played big games before.
01:46Last year hosting Texas A&M with Miami, they scored 48 points.
01:49He throws it all over the field.
01:51Scored 31 in ranked games against North Carolina and Louisville as well.
01:55The Florida State game, he didn't even throw the ball 10 times, so I erased that from kind
01:58of the stat line there.
01:59He has played in big games before.
02:01This is their biggest yet.
02:02I know Wisconsin has left a lot to be desired in their opening two games so far, but that's
02:08why this total's been crashing.
02:10I've seen the number suggest it's opened about a touchdown higher, 55-and-a-half, so to see
02:14where this number is now at 48-and-a-half, I think it's a really nice buy, low spot on
02:17and over.
02:18But I'm not just going to bet a Wisconsin team total.
02:20No reason to leave Alabama out of this.
02:22Last year, Milrow, four starts on the road, averaged 35-and-a-half points per game.
02:28In those road starts, the total was 4-and-over.
02:31In those starts as well, and I think Alabama has a point to prove offensively, Ben, with
02:36how slow they started against South Florida.
02:39No showed.
02:4075% of that game still found their way to 42 points.
02:43It was going to be a very interesting fourth quarter for the Crimson Tide.
02:47They led 14-3 at the end of three last week against South Florida.
02:51After a Jalen Milrow fumble on the Bulls' two-yard line, and it was just a one-point
02:56game tight early in the fourth quarter before Alabama scored a touchdown on the next four
03:02offensive possessions out there at 199 rushing yards against USF, a buck 39 of them came
03:08on those final four offensive possessions.
03:11Joe, when you look at these two teams, of course, there's Alabama, ranked fourth in
03:15the country, and a Wisconsin team that we know is very, very good.
03:19These are two of four programs around the country in college football that have made
03:23a bowl appearance in the last two decades consecutively.
03:27Wisconsin has been to a bowl game for 22 straight years, Alabama at least 20.
03:33Wisconsin's had 10-plus wins in five of six years up until 2019, but they have not gotten
03:38to double digits since that point.
03:41It's year two under Luke Vickle, and there are some concerns about the Badgers.
03:45You mentioned last week against South Dakota.
03:47The opener on a Friday night against Western Michigan.
03:50Wisconsin winning by two touchdowns in each, but not covering as at least an 18-and-a-half
03:55point favorite in both.
03:57Where does your main concern lie for the Badgers entering this matchup, and what do they need
04:01to fix if they're going to keep it within this 16-and-a-half point spread?
04:04I think it's the quarterback position, and I agree with Kevin in regards to Tyler Van
04:08Dyke potentially stepping up.
04:10His number was 168-and-a-half, I think he can get up to a buck 75, 200 today, but think
04:16about last year's quarterback Tanner Mordecai in Phil Longo's offense, right?
04:20With Phil Longo and Drake May and Sam Howell, he was supposed to put up dynamic numbers.
04:25Fourteen touchdowns, six interceptions, they averaged well under 200 yards in a multitude
04:31of games down the stretch.
04:32This game needs to be in the area of about 250.
04:35They need to stretch and put pressure on Alabama's secondary.
04:39If they cannot do that, they're going to be in long third downs, Kevin, and then it's
04:43lights out for that Bama defense.
04:45I'm really interested to see what Milrow does as a runner today.
04:48Two touchdowns in each of the first two games this season.
04:50He is off to a Heisman caliber start this year just relative to the numbers, but last
04:56year a big issue with Milrow would be the sacks.
04:58There would be games, it's probably 35-and-a-half, and you'd be sitting there in the middle of
05:02the third quarter with negative rushing yards on your card.
05:06Last week, two yards is where he finished up.
05:08The week prior, though, against Western Kentucky, 79.
05:11This is who Milrow was last year in terms of the final box score as a runner.
05:16Rarely was he finishing with 40 yards.
05:19It was these huge games, and it was these, like, how does he have negative yards with
05:22what he is as a runner?
05:24I want to see what he does against Wisconsin, certainly slated to be the best defense that
05:28they've played so far this season.
05:30You mentioned Jalen Milrow and what he did through the air in those games on the road
05:34last year.
05:35At least two passing touchdowns in their final three road tests in SEC play at A&M, at Kentucky,
05:41at Auburn, also at least 36 yards on the ground in three of their four true road games a season
05:46ago.
05:47Joe, on the other side, Tyler Van Dyke is the story for Wisconsin.
05:51203 yards per game, never more than .215 in his first two in the, quote, dairy raid under
05:57Phil Longo, but it's been anything but a dairy raid so far.
06:01How does Wisconsin have to open it up to attack this Alabama defense?
06:04I think it's critical that they score first, right?
06:07Get this Camp Randall crowd in regards to this matchup.
06:10If they're in it, potentially crowd noise to get to Milrow.
06:13You could force turnovers if Alabama scores first and jumps up by a double digit lead
06:19could be lights out because then there's the playing from behind guys.
