Bubba 2000 presents 'Home-Coming': Exhibition at Sheffield's Showroom Workstation

This October, Sheffield artist Bubba 2000 of 'Stay Common' fame returns home for an exhibition from across his career at Showroom Workstation, as well as a look forward at what's to come.

00:00The reason why it's called Homecoming is twofold. Number one, because I, you know, the workstation

00:06and it was Julie and Matthew down at the workstation.

00:10This is next to the showroom cinema, yeah.

00:12Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's all part of the cultural industry. I was 18, I had curtains down there,

00:18and I was going in for meetings, trying to convince them to let me and my pals have a

00:23studio space there. And they took a gamble, and the workstation back then, I mean, it was,

00:30so much has come out of there that, to me, this was me coming home to where it all began.

00:37Is it rather a career in retrospect, or is it something you want to achieve with it?

00:41It's basically showing how I've, it's showing thanks to Sheffield and the workstation,

00:47but it's also showing where I'm going to be moving forward. Because, I mean,

00:50this project's been discussed with the team, the team, that sounds so pretentious, but it's true.

00:59You know, I've got Rich Pelly, Daniel Surrett, a fantastic team of people who are helping me out.

01:05And, I mean, we're already looking at stuff for next year, but this is me putting my toes back

01:09in the water and saying, okay, if you would like me to keep doing, I'm not going to force myself

01:14on people anymore, because there seems to be enough people doing that, nod, nod, wink, wink,

01:20so it's like, look, if you would like me to keep doing this, I would be more than honoured to.

01:25And so it's not a look back. I mean, it's more of a look forward.
