Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt Sunday in Florida, the FBI said, with the Republican presidential candidate's campaign and law enforcement reporting he was safe and unharmed.

00:07to be an assassination attempt on Sunday while he was golfing on his course in West Palm
00:11Beach, Florida.
00:13Law enforcement officials said that the gunman was in some bushes near the property line
00:17of the golf course when Secret Service agents, who were clearing holes ahead of where Trump
00:23was playing, spotted a rifle barrel in the bushes.
00:26Police engaged the gunman and fired at least four rounds of ammunition around 1.30 p.m.
00:33The gunman then dropped his rifle, two backpacks and other items, and fled in a black Nissan
00:39car.
00:40A witness saw the gunman and managed to take photos of his car and license plate.
00:45Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said the gunman was spotted about 400 to 500 yards
00:53from where Trump was playing.
00:55We have somebody in custody right now that is a potential suspect.

01:26The U.S. Secret Service personnel opened fire on a gunman located near the property line
01:32and this matter is under investigation.
01:34Authorities alerted the statewide agencies with the information on the vehicle, which
01:40led to sheriff's deputies in neighboring Martin County apprehending the suspect.
