Taiwan's ultramarathon runner Tommy Chen has won first place in the men's division of the 230-kilometer For Rangers Ultra in Kenya. TaiwanPlus spoke to him after the race.

00:00First of all, congratulations on finishing first place this time.

00:04Can you tell us a little bit more about the race and how is it different from your previous ones?

00:09This time, we are competing in an open national park.

00:15At first, I thought there would be a fence separating us from the animals.

00:20But this time, the race is completely open.

00:22In this race, there are about 200 Forranger soldiers protecting us.

00:29On the second day, we even saw four soldiers holding a gun at the turn of a peak.

00:36They were protecting us with binoculars.

00:39They told us to clear, quick and go left.

00:44There were three of them and ten of them.

00:46On the right side of the track, there were about 150 meters.

00:52As you mentioned, there were no barriers or fences between the athletes and wild animals.

00:57Did you have any unforgettable encounters?

01:00On the second day of the race, we went to the only white rhinoceros reserve in the world.

01:11When we got there, I saw wild rhinoceros and soldiers protecting them.

01:17At the same time, I saw a one and a half-year-old rhinoceros.

01:23At that moment, I realized that supermoto is not just a race.

01:29It's a connection between nature, people, and the relationship between your feet and gravity.

01:43I met a lot of international adventurers.

01:47They inspired me to learn more about adventure.
