00:40Aw, thanks, Peter. Did I miss anything while I was gone?

00:45Well, there is a new boy in class.

00:48Ooh, I like making new friends. Did you play with him at recess?

00:54Well, kind of. He wasn't very nice to anyone.

00:59Oh, what do you mean?

01:02I was waiting in line for the swings. It was almost my turn, so I was getting really excited.

01:09But the new boy cut in front of me and took my swing.

01:13It was not his turn, and it made me feel angry because I was next in line.

01:19That wasn't very nice!

01:21He wasn't playing fair. He needed to wait his turn.

01:25I know, right? But he wasn't very nice to anyone else, either.

01:30A little bit later, Dee tripped and fell really hard on the ground, and the new boy didn't help her.

01:37He just laughed at her.

01:40And he wouldn't share the basketball when we wanted to play with him.

01:45He didn't know how to play fair with other people.

01:49That's not how you should act when you're on the playground.

01:52Everyone needs to play together and take turns.

01:56You're right, Maria. That's why he sat all by himself at snack time.

03:26Yesterday at recess, Maria and I were pretending to be animals,

03:32and it was fun until Maria said that monkeys like to tickle each other.

03:37And then she started to tickle me.

03:40But I didn't like it. I don't want to be tickled.

03:44And then in class, she touched my hairband without asking me.

03:48She said she wanted to feel it, but she didn't ask me first. She just did it.

03:53And then, when we played in the sandbox after school, she wanted to borrow my shovel.

03:59She just took it from me without asking first.

04:05She didn't keep her hands to herself all day.

04:09Well, I told Maria that she wasn't keeping her hands to herself.

04:14I said that it's not nice to touch other people without asking first.

04:18She said she was sorry, and she didn't know that it bothered me.

04:23And then she promised to keep her hands to herself from now on.

04:27She wanted to make it a pinky promise, but she asked me if it was okay first.

04:34And I gladly said yes.

04:38Oh, now I understand what it means to keep your hands to yourself.

05:11Writing down the rules is a great way to make sure I remember them.

05:16In fact, I'm trying to memorize them all.

05:21Rule number one.

05:23We use our words. We do not hit.

05:27Sometimes when I get really excited or angry,

05:32it can be hard to find the right words to say how I'm feeling.

05:37But that doesn't mean I should ever hit or hurt someone else.

05:42Hands are for gentle touches.

05:45Like giving a friend a high five when they've done something amazing.

05:49Or waving to say hello to someone you know.

05:54So let's make sure we use our words and do not hit.

06:35It's always good to wait your turn.

06:38When you're in line, that means being patient.

06:41And not pushing or shoving.

06:44I always like to pretend that I'm standing inside an invisible cone.

06:49It helps me to remember to keep my hands to myself and not to crowd my friends.

06:54When you push people, it's rude.

06:56And you can accidentally hurt someone too.

06:59So remember, when we get in line, we never push.

07:03We stay inside our imaginary cone.

07:39It's important to remember that no matter what, it's never okay to hit anybody.

11:23I colored a picture of a whale, and I named him Francis.

11:29Dee colored a picture of a dog, and she said it was the best one she'd ever colored.

11:35She was so, so proud of it.

11:38She wanted to take a photo of the dog she colored, so she got up to her camera.

11:43I looked at her picture, and I thought I was missing something.

11:49Look, Dee. I drew a bone for your dog, I said.

11:55But Dee, she was sad.

11:58She didn't want me to draw a bone in her picture.

12:02Peter, she said, it wasn't nice of you to draw on my picture without asking first.

12:11It belongs to me, and you should have asked before you play with my picture.

12:18I thought about how I would feel if someone had drawn on my whale picture.

12:23I would have been sad, too.

12:25I learned it's not nice to play with other people's things without asking, so I apologized to Dee.

12:33I'm sorry, Dee, I said.

12:36I don't want to make you sad.

12:38I promise to always ask you before playing with your things.

12:42Thank you, Peter, Dee said.

12:45After I promised to ask Dee before playing with her things, we had a lot of fun.

12:52Wow, Peter, that was a good promise to make.

13:06You must always treat other people's things the same way you want your things to be treated.
