00:00It was, as expected, a runaway victory.

00:03The Algerian President Abdel Majid Tebboun far outpaced his two challengers.

00:09Algeria's electoral authority said nearly 19 out of 20 voters chose him.

00:17First, the independent candidate, Tebboun Abdel Majid, 5,329,253 votes,

00:27representing 94.65%.

00:36The electoral authority said that the candidate in second place was Islamist

00:40Abdelali Hassani Sharif with 3.17%.

00:44His party decried irregularities, saying there had been a failure to deliver

00:48vote-sorting records to the candidate's representatives.

01:48It said that five years after the Hirak protest movement, Algeria has seen new

01:53arbitrary arrests while authorities maintain a zero-tolerance approach to dissenting opinions.
