00:00The former congressman Arnulfo Tevez Jr. called it a fake news

00:05when the Justice Department said that Timor-Leste destroyed the appeal against the extrajudicial of the former congressman.

00:13According to Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Tevez's lawyer,

00:17Timor-Leste issued a stay order and did not destroy their appeal.

00:24The former congressman also argued that he went to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights

00:29to investigate the violation of his rights.

00:34Atty. Topacio said that he was forced to leave the country to avoid political persecution.

00:42The DOJ said that Tevez was about to return to his country because the extrajudicial process was already underway.

00:51His appeal was later denied.

00:55The DOJ added that there is a high possibility that the extrajudicial process will start

01:00after Pope Francis' visit to Timor-Leste from September 9 to 11.
