00:00When I was a young activist, we were literally surrounded by revolutionary developments.

00:12And we really thought that we were going to be a part of a revolution that was anti-racist,

00:19a revolution that would overturn capitalism.

00:23And of course, that revolution never happened.

00:26But at the same time, our activism led to many changes.

00:32And I would today talk about the need for revolutions and recognize that revolution

00:39doesn't happen at a single moment, and that there can be no revolution until we seriously

00:48come to terms with the ghost of slavery and the ghost of colonialism.
