Boeings new astronaut capsule has departed the International Space Station without its
00:07
crew on board.
00:09
NASAs two test pilots Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore have stayed behind on the ISS.
00:15
Thats after NASA logged a range of problems with Boeings Starliner capsule from thruster
00:21
failures to helium leaks.
00:24
The space agency decided it was too risky to let Williams and Wilmore use the craft
00:29
to return to Earth.
00:32
SpaceX will instead bring the duo back in late February, stretching their original eight-day
00:36
mission to more than eight months.
00:40
NASA said earlier this week that teams have been so focused on Starliners return that
00:44
theyve had no time to think about what happens next for Boeing.
00:49
But the space agency said its committed to having two competing U.S. companies transporting
00:54
astronauts.
