00:00The Senate ratified the bicameral conference committee report on Senate Bill 2665 and House Bill 9034, or the Archipelagic Ceilings Law.
00:11Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino in today's Senate plenary session highlighted some areas wherein both houses of Congress have agreed to disagree on certain provisions of the bill.
00:23Senator Tolentino noted the measure implements the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS, and this is by designating the Philippines as archipelagic ceilings.
00:35Once this bill becomes a law, it will be submitted to the International Maritime Organization.
00:41The bill aims to reinforce the country's claim in the West Philippine Sea.
00:46And Mr. President, there is likewise a recognition which is a hallmark of international law of foreign warships, the immunities of foreign warships or military aircraft or other government ships or aircraft operated for non-commercial purposes.
01:10These are part of the agreed-upon provisions of both contingents, Mr. President.
