00:00Hi, welcome back to my channel.
00:02In this video, I will explain the ending of Tokyo Vice season 2.
00:05So, let's begin.
00:06The second season of Max's crime drama series, Tokyo Vice, ends with Hiroto Katajiri doing
00:11the right thing over the immoral thing concerning the threat of Shinzo Tozawa.
00:15In episode 10, titled Endgame, the police officer hides his plans even from Jake Adelstein
00:20to not let his hands be covered with the blood of the Yakuza kingpin.
00:24Tozawa faces an unexpected enemy when he is asked to explain himself in front of the heads
00:28of the syndicate.
00:29Samantha makes a significant decision concerning her life and departs from Sado, possibly only
00:34for the time being.
00:35Jake's dreams of building a life with Misaki get shattered when the latter sets out to
00:39rewrite her fate, here is everything you need to know about the ending, just to let you
00:42know this video will contain spoilers.
00:45Endgame begins with Samantha asking Sado's help to protect Misaki from Tozawa.
00:50After learning about what's hidden in Yoshino from the Yakuza kingpin's wife Kazuko, Katajiri
00:54and his superior Shouko Nagata plan two raids on the same day.
00:58Jake calls Katajiri to explain what happened to him.
01:01He shows up at Jake and others' hiding spot to garner Misaki's signature to raid Yoshino
01:06since she is the owner of the boat.
01:08Jake then joins his mentor and they leave for Yoshino.
01:11Tozawa's men find Misaki by following Katajiri but she runs away with Samantha and Sado before
01:16the former group can catch them.
01:18Nagata conducts a raid at Tozawa's office but fails to find anything valuable.
01:23By the time Katajiri gets into Yoshino, a crew member elopes with the document that
01:26reveals Tozawa's deal with the FBI to become an informant in return for a liver transplant
01:30in the United States.
01:32Katajiri and his officers catch the man and garner the document.
01:36They also find pieces of evidence that prove Tozawa had been giving illegal donations to
01:40Jotaro Shigematsu, who is poised to become the next prime minister of Japan.
01:45Jake takes the incriminating documents against the politician to his boss Maruyama but her
01:49superior decides against publishing the story and adds that he destroyed Paulina's videotape
01:53to protect the newspaper company.
01:55Tozawa asks Misaki to meet him if she doesn't want to see her mother dead.
02:00He also makes it clear that he wants to see Jake with her as well.
02:03Without any other option in front of her, she agrees to the meeting.
02:07Maruyama is determined to expose Shigematsu and she takes the pieces of evidence to her
02:11ex-boyfriend and fellow journalist Shingo.
02:14He tells her that he will publish the story if it is written by one of his employees and
02:17offers his former partner a job without the intervention of people like her superior.
02:22Maruyama considers the offer but doesn't offer an answer to Shingo.
02:26Why does Shinzo Tozawa kill himself?
02:29Even after Katajiri gets the evidence to prove that Tozawa illegally underwent liver transplant
02:33surgery in the United States, he decides against arresting the kingpin.
02:37The police officer has spent years trying to bring Tozawa down by capturing him.
02:42These years have taught him that his department is something the kingpin can easily buy in
02:45return for his freedom.
02:47Katajiri knows that the evidence in his hand is a dynamite that should be used wisely rather
02:51than legally.
02:52He doesn't want to see Tozawa becoming untouchable by bribing his superiors and walking out of
02:56the prison with enough hatred to harm his family.
02:59Rather, Katajiri wants him dead for good.
03:03That's why Katajiri hands over the document to Sato.
03:06He wants other Yakuza leaders to learn about the betrayal of Tozawa, who informed the FBI
03:10about the American dealings of his peers and equals that resulted in multiple raids.
03:15After the major raids in the United States, the other clan leaders realize that they cannot
03:19trust Tozawa anymore.
03:21They accepted him as their leader to earn more money and not lose their empires rather
03:24than get betrayed.
03:25Thus, the Yakuza clan heads decide that Tozawa should die.
03:30Kazuko's change of alliance becomes the last nail in the coffin for Tozawa, who built his
03:34empire using the money from the former's family.
03:37Before marrying Kazuko, Tozawa was a nobody.
03:40He became a powerful kingpin with the status and money of Kazuko.
03:44Still, he didn't care for her.
03:46He banished her to their household and even went on to kill her loved one to become the
03:50emperor of the country's crime syndicate.
03:52When she realizes that her husband is outgrowing her and her family, Kazuko decides to cut
03:57him down.
03:58She decides against providing him money to buy the trust of the other Yakuza leaders.
04:03Without Kazuko's funds, Tozawa becomes a nobody.
04:06His own general betrays him, indicating that he cannot rely on his army anymore.
04:11Tozawa realizes that he cannot avoid death when other Yakuza leaders have teamed up against
04:15him.
04:16He would have been able to fight them one by one but a war against all of them, including
04:19his wife Kazuko, is not expected to end with his victory.
04:23Such a war will also make him a condemnable man in his country where honor is valued immensely.
04:28He then chooses to kill himself rather than get killed dishonorably by his peers.
04:33In Japanese culture, a formal suicide is relied on to restore honor.
04:38Tozawa may not want the world to know that he was tortured and murdered like an animal
04:41by his enemies.
04:42Although he has returned from death once, he fails to repeat that feat.
04:46Where is Samantha going?
04:48Will she return to Sato?
04:50After Tozawa's death, Kazuko becomes the new head of her late husband's clan.
04:55Samantha meets her to reveal the details concerning a building project Masahiro Ono was working
04:59on for the new Yakuza leader to buy properties around the construction site.
05:03She asks for a finder's fee and Kazuko gladly accepts it.
05:07Samantha, with the money, bids adieu to Sato after promising that she will return for him.
05:13Even though he asks her where she is going, the American woman doesn't answer him.
05:17Samantha must be planning to open a new nightclub somewhere far away from Sato and the troubles
05:21he had created in the past and the troubles he will create in the future.
05:25Even though Samantha has a history of vanishing without a word, she is not expected to betray
05:28Sato's trust by disappearing for good.
05:31Since she tells him that she will return, she is expected to keep her word.
05:36She knows that Sato is now the powerful leader of Kiharukai who can use his resources to
05:40track her down if he wants to.
05:41Thus, she may return to him after opening a new nightclub or any other business venture
05:46to support herself in Japan.
05:48Samantha must have realized that distance is necessary if she wants to remain together
05:52with Sato.
05:54Samantha's nightclub gets destroyed because she builds it right in the heart of Kiharukai
05:57and Tozawagumi's jurisdictions.
06:00It doesn't take long for the place to become a battlefield and she may not want to lose
06:03another business in the same way.
06:05Even though Tozawa is dead, she is wise enough to know that someone may emerge to fill the
06:09vacuum he left behind to stand against Sato.
06:12She seemingly doesn't want her business to suffer when her boyfriend's enemies follow
06:15him to her.
06:17Therefore, Samantha must be separating her personal and professional lives by building
06:21a new venture far away from Sato where she can peacefully run the same without getting
06:24identified as the partner of a potent Yakuza leader.
06:28Once Samantha starts operating her business, she may occasionally visit Sato.
06:32After his ascension to the throne of Kiharukai, she must have understood that she could not
06:36have him all her own.
06:38Samantha will only be a part of Sato's life as he is obliged to look after the affairs
06:41of his clan and its members.
06:44His obligations may allow Samantha to focus on her potential business as well.
06:48Why do Jake and Misaki break up?
06:51Jake has been longing for Tozawa's downfall to reunite with Misaki.
06:55He not only loves her but also wants to build a life with her.
06:58When Samantha asks him about Misaki, he makes it clear that he is not with the latter just
07:02for fun.
07:04When Tozawa dies, he expects to share his life with Misaki without any fear, only for
07:08her to kill his hope by breaking up with him.
07:11After Tozawa threatens her and her mother's lives, Misaki wants to stay away from the
07:14world of Yakuza as much as she can.
07:17She doesn't want anything to do with people who can destroy her life in no time.
07:21Misaki knows that Jake cannot abandon such a world.
07:25He is a journalist who thrives when he faces danger and Misaki doesn't want any trouble
07:29associated with him in her life.
07:31After the rollercoaster experience with Tozawa, Misaki wishes to lead a calm life without
07:35any fear or bother.
07:37She understands that she cannot free herself from fear if Jake is her boyfriend and he
07:41continues to put his life on the line for his stories.
07:44Thus, they break up so that Misaki can start a new chapter of her life away from the realms
07:48of Yakuza.
07:50Both Samantha and Misaki make the same decision but the latter decides to completely cut her
07:54ties with her partner while the former chooses not to sacrifice her relationship with her
07:58boyfriend.
07:59That's all for now folks, I would appreciate it if you could give the video a super thanks
