00:00What kind of a relationship did you have with your mother?

00:12The typical teenage, you know, don't do this, don't do that, get in trouble, get yelled

00:16at, you know, that kind of stuff.

00:17So what did you want to do with the song?

00:18Oh, this song was a direct, a direct affront to the PMRC, you know, we're going to tell

00:28you what you can listen to and what you can't, we'll take care of your kids, we'll make sure

00:33that they're taken care of so you can go and, you know, screw off and do what you want and

00:38not raise your kids.

00:39It's almost like, have kids, but you don't have to raise them, the government will take

00:44over and make sure that they're raised properly and that, you know, they only hear the right

00:48kind of music, they don't hear this or that or, you know, and it's just ridiculous, you

00:53know.

00:54What irritates me is when people grow up and they forget what it was like to be a teenager,

01:12you know, when parents, you know, who used to be crazy teenagers all of a sudden become

01:16their parents and they forget what it was like to have their parents, like, yelling

01:19at them and telling them not to do things and, you know, all of a sudden they become

01:24like carbon copies of their parents, it's stupid.

01:30I was born in the dirt, I never had no home, in the places I've lived, you don't want to

01:45know, if you want to hear evil, just come a little bit closer.

01:55You're a big Elvis fan?

01:56I like Elvis' voice, I don't like everything he does, I wish Erie was here, because Erie

02:01is a big Elvis fan.

02:03Who came up with the idea of, you know, putting Trouble on the album?

02:08Well, actually, we did a version of it in San Heng, right before San Heng broke up,

02:15and we just, you know, we did it in Danzig, I mean, that's your song for Encore, you know,

02:21and then I went out and out and we did a few other stuff, so we just did Trouble, you know,

02:26Danzig way.

02:27Yeah, Danzig way, that's what I meant, I mean, you changed the lyrics in a way.

02:30Yeah, well I did that in San Heng too, but musically it was a little different in San

02:35Heng, it was more moody and, you know, a lot of weird spoons and stuff on it, and Danzig

02:41was just straight ahead, you know.

02:43What kind of, what era of Elvis' career do you like the most?

02:46My favorite era is when he did his comeback with the Memphis record, he was a real singer,

02:53and so he was tired of everybody thinking he was, you know, just this movie star, and

03:00so he really had to go into a studio with real musicians and prove not only to them

03:05but to himself that he was a real singer, that he could really do it, and he wasn't

03:09just this teen idol.

03:10That's my favorite album, the Memphis record.

03:12You like blues a lot.

03:14Yeah.

03:15What about Robert Johnson, as early as Robert Johnson?

03:17Yeah, as early as Robert Johnson, Sun House, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon,

03:23as a matter of fact, Heart of the Devil was originally supposed to have a verse sung by

03:28Willie Dixon, and he was gonna co-write a song with me also for the record, but then

03:34he died.
