The actor says he's having to sell a truck he's owned for 7 years because the cost to fill up his tank is out of control ... taking it to CarMax even though his kids are begging him not to kiss goodbye to the car.

00:00Armie Hammer. Everybody thinks, well, the name Hammer, and you've seen Arm and Hammer baking soda and whatnot.

00:06His grandfather was just a transformative man, and made an absolute fortune.

00:14And everybody assumes Armie Hammer is absolutely rolling in dough.

00:19Of course, even if he hasn't acted lately.

00:21Even though he hasn't acted lately.

00:22Wealthy, right?

00:23He is essentially broke. So broke that he can't afford gas in his car.

00:28This is something he posted yesterday.

00:32I still can't wrap my head around it.

00:33It's hard to wrap your head around.

00:45Since being back in L.A., I have put about four or five hundred dollars worth of gas in it.

00:53And I can't afford it.

00:56I can't afford the gas anymore.

00:58I mean, this truck, like a kid's home from the hospital, all that stuff.

01:07But you know what? That's OK.

01:10I got a new car. It's tiny.

01:12It's a hybrid. I'm probably going to put about ten bucks in gas in it a month.

01:17They gave me bags before I abandoned my baby.

01:26But you've there's a reason he posted this.

01:29And I think part of it is that, you know, people do make this assumption.

01:33Oh, he's privileged. He's wealthy.

01:35It's what I thought. And yet.

01:37And look, I mean, we've known for a long time.

01:39I mean, we found him, you know, he was living in the Cayman Islands.

01:43He was ending up selling timeshares at condos to make money.

01:47Right. He's had essentially been banished from Hollywood.

01:50Right. You know, because of the whole since like 2021.

01:53Right. With the the cannibalism allegations.

01:57I will say this. People found this so hard to believe.

02:00He actually had to say this was not an ad for CarMax.

02:03Right. That's how much people thought that this was no way this is real.

02:14And I do get it. Like he wasn't charged for anything.

02:17He was actually cleared by the LAPD and his whole career went completely downhill after.

02:22But at the same time, he also says in this video, he's turning the car in.

02:26I looked it up. I think this car you can get about 30k for it.

02:29He bought a separate car, a hybrid that something that's a little more practical

02:32because gas prices in LA are absolutely insane.

02:35So it's not like this guy's homeless.

02:37He just sold his car. But he was one of the biggest actors in all of Hollywood.

02:42And to think that he can't afford to fill up his tank in his SUV.

02:46I mean, this guy was one of the Hollywood leading men and then it was all over.

02:51Well, and again, and everybody thinks that this money kind of trickles down.

02:56And it does not necessarily and did not in his case.

02:59And we've heard this over the years that, you know,

03:02Armie Hammer has not been the beneficiary of this.

03:04The other thing is, and this is kind of a minor point.

03:07He said he bought a tiny car. Armie Hammer is like 6'4 or possibly 6'5.

03:12Big boy. So, wow.

03:15It's so funny because he's talking about this car.

03:17He said he bought it for himself for Christmas in 2017.

03:20If you're not in LA, most people are not in LA watching right now.

03:25There's this weird connection people have to their cars.

03:29And not every car, but certain cars.

03:31We spend a lot of time in it.

03:32You feel it when you watch him there.

03:35He also said it had a lot of sentimental value because, you know,

03:38he took his kids home from the hospital in that car.

03:40So I do get that part of it.

03:42But honestly, I think he's going to be a lot better off in LA,

03:44not driving around a big truck.

03:48I hear you guys, but I think this video is a bit bizarre.

03:52You know, after a few years of, you know, media silence to come back

03:57and seemingly try and garner sympathy over not being able to afford gas.

04:00That's the reality for a lot of people in LA.

04:03Things are expensive.

04:04I don't know. I just, I didn't relate to it.

04:07And I just think it feels like karma in action.

04:10A lot of people are going to say that.

04:11I do wonder if there might be a director or a casting director out there

04:14that sees this and has some sympathy for the guy.

04:16Yeah, I mean, you got to remember, too, this guy was cleared.
