Wolves demolished 6-2 by Chelsea in nightmare return to Molineux

00:00Wolverhampton Wanderers have just been thrashed 6-2 by Chelsea upon their return to Molineux.

00:07A disaster return here to their home ground.

00:10A stadium that was a fortress for much of last season in the Premier League

00:13and the campaign before that as well under Julio Lopetegui.

00:16But today, ruthless Chelsea were to claim their first three points under Enzo Maresca.

00:21Noni Modueke, the man who posted on social media the night before tonight at today's game,

00:27scored a hat-trick ruthlessly in the second half.

00:30Just 15 minutes between all three of his goals.

00:33Wolves failing to capitalise on quite a strong performance in the first half.

00:37It was 2-2 at the break.

00:39Goals from Jorgen Strand-Larsen and Mateus Cunha counselling out Nicholas Jackson's second-minute header

00:45and a lovely lob from Cole Palmer over Jose Sarr.

00:48A world-class goal that one from Palmer, as he so usually is.

00:52But in that second half, Modueke, ruthless, had five shots on target throughout the game.

00:58Sarr kept out the first two in the first half.

01:01But in the second period, he just got those aims a bit more right.

01:06Flicking one off Ait Nouri into the goal, one through Sarr's legs

01:09and the final one fired emphatically into the far corner.

01:12Wolves defensively just torn to shreds in that second period.

01:16They lacked awareness. Their positioning was terrible.

01:19Their midfield press was beaten so easily by Chelsea.

01:22I don't know what Marescu said at half-time, but whatever he did say

01:26or whatever he changed tactically definitely worked.

01:28They seemed to have more impetus, more drive on attacks.

01:35Down that right-hand side all the time, able to take advantage of Wolves frailties.

01:40It's a shame because Wolves looked good in that first half.

01:42They were a bit more solid defensively.

01:44The goals came from the world-class love from Palma

01:47and not quite getting readied early enough from a set-piece

01:51as Jackson scored his goal.

01:53But a completely different story in the second half really

01:56and Gary O'Neill will be very disappointed by his team's performance.

01:59To make matters worse, Pedro Neto, who received quite a nice welcome

02:03upon his return here to Molineme after his £52m move to Chelsea,

02:07he got the assist for João Felix's goal to make it 6-2.

02:12It's an absolutely awful result.

02:14The scoreline potentially flattering Chelsea,

02:17but it's Wolves really with their mistakes,

02:20the reason why the scoreline was so dramatic.

02:25Wolves still at the bottom of the table with zero points from two matches.
