I'm Derek Adams. I'm the minister of the Welsh Evangelical Church in Aberystwyth. I live
00:20
in Penryn Cwch. What else do you want to know?
00:23
So most weeks when I'm trying to complete park run and jogging, you're merrily running
00:29
and juggling. What started that and why do you enjoy doing that?
00:35
I do lots of children's work and so juggling is a fun thing to do, especially in camps,
00:40
teach children to juggle and so on. It's a fun thing, it's a good thing to do. So I've
00:46
always enjoyed doing different things and I've done lots of children's work. So I think
00:50
I did it first in park run when it was either close to April Fool's Day or something like
00:58
that. So I did it then as a joke. But after that everybody was asking me, when are you
01:04
going to do the juggling again? So I started doing it every now and again, especially when
01:10
I haven't run much. So I know I'm going to be quite slow. So it's a good excuse for being
01:14
slow.
01:15
You're still much faster than I am. It's brilliant. And what would you say to anyone else who
01:20
might be thinking of doing park run, but maybe I'm not sure if it's for them?
01:25
I think park run is brilliant. I was persuaded, first of all, by my son and daughter-in-law
01:33
who were very fit. And I thought I can't do park run because I used to run cross country
01:38
in school. It's a long time ago. But I thought I'd be so slow. But then, what can I say?
01:49
Some people encouraged me to do park run who were obviously not very good runners, if I
01:55
can put it like that. And I thought, if they do it, I'm not going to be last. But I actually
01:59
found because I had that residual fitness, I could run reasonably well, you know, sort
02:05
of top third. So it was fun. And some people walk. And it's a great place to have a bit
02:15
of mental health, friendship. Excellent. I'd really recommend it.
