00:04Celine Dion's documentary, I Am Celine Dion, starts streaming tomorrow.

00:09And Lainey sits down with the film's director to discuss capturing

00:12Celine's vulnerability and fight with Stiff Person Syndrome.

00:16I held my breath for a minute because I didn't want to stop filming.

00:21I thought, what would Celine do?

00:24Celine would say keep filming.

00:25Yes.

00:26And so I did.

00:28Irene and her team were amazing to just capture

00:35who I am and what I was struggling with.

00:38And it took a while.

00:39At the very beginning of this process, she said, I want everything in my voice.

00:45I miss them.

00:46If I can't run, I'll walk.

00:48If I can't walk, I'll crawl.

00:50When you reflect back to that scene in the film, do you think you would have believed it?

00:56Hmm.

00:57I could not have imagined how open she would have been.

01:01She was not recognizable.

01:03And I don't mean, oh, here's Celine without makeup.

01:07This is the dancer, the performer, the woman we know is unrecognizable.

01:13It's not an overestimation to say I was frightened.

01:16But I did really feel like it was part of what I had set out to do.

01:20Honest, but often tough to watch, Peabody and Emmy-winning filmmaker Irene Taylor

01:27chronicles Celine's challenging new reality away from the stage,

01:31including a rare muscle spasm that briefly shuts her body down.

01:36I've missed not finishing that tour, obviously.

01:39But ever the pillar of courage, Celine perseveres.

01:44And with Irene's help, she aims to usher in her next era as a performer.

01:49I was born ready, trust me.

01:52Are there moments in the film that seeing people watch it surprised you with how they reacted to it?

01:59Yeah.

02:00Celine is questioning if she was good, just like hit me in the gut.

02:04And there was laughter in the audience last night when she said that.

02:09And I realized for her to question her talent, to question if people still love her,

02:17was so outrageously funny.

02:19It was like, Celine, we got you.

02:22Yeah.

02:22My mother has an incurable illness.

02:24Capturing those moments is essential in having people understand what a rare illness looks like.

02:30So thank you on so many levels.
