California Governor Gavin Newsom signed ten new bills into law to combat retail crime in the state, including organized theft and fencing stolen goods online. The newly announced package introduces laws targeting shoplifting, vehicle theft, organized theft, and the resale of stolen goods online. These measures respond to retailers' demands for stronger action against retail theft, affecting profits, customers, and staff. Between January and August, California authorities made over 800 arrests related to organized retail crime and recovered over $7 million worth of stolen merchandise.
