00:21Elmer, just take a breath and let's talk it out.

00:25Too late, Elmer!

00:26I may be washable, but you can't wash away my discontent!

00:33We're going on strike!

00:35And it's your fault!

00:37Let's go!

00:39Oh.

00:40Well, I'm sorry it's come to this, but I guess I have to go make a sign now.

00:46Okay, Elmer, we'll see you on the picket line.

01:55To be grabbed and pressed and pinched nearly every single day?

01:59Well, my fans can get a bit overzealous at times!

02:07Well, for us, me and my fellow glues, that's exactly what it's like.

02:13Which is why we got together and decided we needed to go on strike!

02:19We simply had enough of being beat up every day, being used and abused in nearly every single way.

02:29Wow!

02:30These glues are angry and united, whether they be bottles or tubes or sticks.

02:37This anger has really united them in a very gluey kind of way.

02:40One afternoon, when the kids were getting ready to leave their classes,

02:46they tossed us bottles, sticks, and tubs carelessly in our baskets!

02:52And that's just the beginning of our complaints!

02:55Go on, tell them everything, and don't leave out any of the gory details!

03:00Gory?

03:02We decided to tiptoe over to the paper pile and grab one of the teacher's pens

03:09We wrote out all our grievances in a letter and hoped that soon the abuse would end!

03:17Dear students, we hope you find this well as you're having fun at lunch.

03:23We have some things to tell you. Let's start with how we're sick of being crunched!

03:29Sick of it, I tell you! Sick of it!

03:31You squeeze us in our middles until our plastic is weak and worn.

03:36Oh, I can barely get around anymore!

03:40You pick and rip at our labels until they're tattered, loose, and torn.

03:49You shove our tips into your noses where they seem to fit so snugly.

03:55We don't think this is funny. No, we do not take it lightly.

04:04The one who's giggling did it!

04:06Yes, they did! You're guilty and you know it!

04:11If you've been falsely accused of glue abuse,

04:23The glues aren't even done giving us their list of grievances.

04:27The worst is when you decide to taste us because of our scent and color.

04:33I guess sometimes we look like a marshmallow and you want to have us for supper?

04:40I think they need better snacks in this school.

04:44You twist us up and smash our insides without a second care.

04:49You press us into pages hard.

04:52Well, do you think that's fair?

04:55And what about our friends?

05:02You bend and push their bodies.

05:04This is not the way that you should treat glue!

05:09So that's it! We've had enough!

05:12From this day on, we're going on strike!

05:23We will not be here for your projects or your crafts or work at school.

05:28We are not coming back to help you until you realize you've been cruel.

05:40And after all that they've endured, can you blame them?

05:45We left the note on the teacher's desk and waddled to the back of the room.

05:50We huddled in the corner behind the classroom broom,

05:54and you can tell they're high-fiving, they're smiling,

05:57they're feeling pretty good about what they've done standing up for glue rights.

06:03The kids didn't notice at first, not until they sat down at their desks.

06:08They started working without us glues, trying to do their best,

06:14but then they really needed some stuff to stick, and the directions called for glue.

06:20So they looked around the classroom for us, but they didn't have a clue.

06:27Kids, look at this! I found a letter!

06:29The teacher said as he read the note aloud.

06:32The children listened intently and didn't make a sound.

06:38What's the matter? Guilty conscious? Got your tongue?

06:44Then the students grabbed some pens and paper,

06:47and they wrote back to us as a class.

06:51Glues, we promise not to mistreat you anymore. If only you'll come back.

06:58I don't believe you!

06:59Don't believe them!

07:00But Jefferson!

07:01What?

07:01You're interfering with the negotiations.

07:03I'm just here for the anger.

07:04Little glue stick.

07:17We didn't realize we were hurting you or treating you carelessly,

08:09and we were never again mistreated.

08:24And then the kids did the right thing by apologizing and promising to correct their behavior.

08:29And we found it in our sticky little hearts to forgive!
