00:00Hi, I'm Rina Sawayama and we are on set for the cover shoot for the August issue of Who,
00:26What, Where. My music in three words would be eclectic, maximal and emotional. My first
00:41big break as an artist, probably doing Jimmy Fallon performance for the first time, felt
00:49like a big break to me. But yeah, because it happened during lockdown, I still don't
00:55really have a real grasp of how well it's gone, I guess. I don't know. I think this
01:04one's one of my favourite pieces. It's by Vivienne Westwood and it's hand painted. So
01:11it's so beautiful. I love the different colours on there and like the colour story. And I'm
01:16also really into Victorian, milkmaid vibes. I think it looks really cool. I actually use
01:25something like this in one of my videos that's coming up. So yeah, love it. So cool. The
01:32fashion direction and the set design complement each other because the set design is super
01:36rich. So the fashion is kind of bringing out different elements of that. There's moments
01:40where it's kind of a more paired back and the set can really speak for itself. And then
01:44there's going to be moments where it's both very loud, just so there's kind of dynamism
01:48throughout the shoot.
01:54My favourite collaboration I've done with another artist is hands down Elton John. Everything
01:58about it was epic and so unexpected. He was so open to taking suggestions and didn't have
02:04an ego, just was so part of the creative process and just kept asking, Marina, do you like
02:09that? I'm just going to try it like this. Do you think it's a good idea? And it was
02:13so wonderful and very creative and collaborative.
