00:02This is Bobby Shmurda.

00:03And this is how it went down with our new song,

00:05Cool Like That.

00:15We had some demos lying around,

00:17and one of them in particular really sucked

00:20when we were in the studio,

00:21because we were getting Bobby to freestyle

00:23on a bunch of stuff just to see and vibe it out.

00:26I could just feel one of the demos,

00:28and I was like, this is the one.

00:29We gotta work on this one.

00:31I was like, Bobby, hop on this one.

00:33And then he just immediately,

00:35it came to him on the spot.

00:37I'm not gonna lie to you.

00:38Everything they was playing,

00:39I was jumping around to it.

00:41Everything they said, this the one,

00:43I said, let's go.

00:44But everything they was playing,

00:45I was just jumping around like,

00:46dang, y'all got so much fucking fire in here.

00:48So we got his recordings,

00:50and we literally just took four bars of it

00:52and just looped it over and over again

00:54and turned it into a song.

00:55And then we just told him,

00:56I think your voice was strained by the end of it.

00:58Just shout it louder and louder.

00:59We were trying to do a Mo Bamba thing to it,

01:01where it was just something that

01:02echoed and screamed.

01:03We got it out.

01:04We did about seven takes.

01:05Yeah, I thought you were gonna pass out,

01:07because you were literally screaming it

01:08just to get that energy up.

01:15So I was just speaking what was on my mind.

01:17I was just speaking my heart.

01:18And once they put that beat on,

01:20they started talking to me.

01:21The beat started talking to me.

01:23I just felt cool.

01:24I'm like, I'm cool like that.

01:25And I started dancing.

01:29I'm cool like that.

01:32Our main inspiration for it was

01:34a mix of old-school 90s rap music videos,

01:37like the Mace era of the bright colors,

01:41the silver,

01:42almost looks like you're in a cheese grater,

01:44like that meme.

01:45That mixed with 212 by Azealia Banks,

01:47because that just has such a hype energy to it,

01:50and it's really raw.

01:51So we were trying to channel that,

01:52but do something unique on it

01:53at the same time.

01:54I'm showing up and going down.

01:59I'm cool like that.

02:02The fan reaction has been A1 so far,

02:04because literally,

02:05there have been people hitting me up

02:07after we play the song.

02:08And they're like,

02:09what's that song,

02:10the goose,

02:11the cool like that?

02:12What's the song you were playing?

02:13Where do I find it?

02:14And literally,

02:15everywhere we've played it,

02:16the energy's been insane.

02:17It's one of those ones

02:18where sometimes you play new music
