00:00Alma, I remember during your pregnancy, in one of the stories, you said, this is the

00:14lowest period of your life.

00:16One of the darkest periods of your life.

00:19And then, what happened in Guam, 23 days in Guam because of drugs.

00:27A lot of people thought, how can Alma come back?

00:30The question is, how did you maneuver, how did you turn your life that you have now,

00:36where you are now, whole, happy, content, strong?

00:42How did you do it?

00:43It was hard.

00:44Actually, I went through depression.

00:46I took medication for, right after I gave birth because Guam was in 1998 and I was in

00:522000.

00:53I was not working and my family worked against the pregnancy.

01:00I didn't have my family with me.

01:02And then, after that, I gave birth.

01:05And after I gave birth, I went through very, very bad postpartum.

01:10And I had to take medications.

01:12And it took me two years to accept that I needed to see a psychiatrist.

01:16So those two years prior to the medication was really hard.

01:21I was just breathing dead.

01:23My panic attacks were just round-off.

01:25It's like I'm just breathing, but I'm dead inside.

01:30So I really advocate, whenever people have symptoms of depression, I really tell my friends,

01:38give my number.

01:39Because I tell them.

01:40And what do you say to them?

01:42Don't do what I did, suffered without medication.

01:46Just go straight to the point.

01:47Just go straight to medication because you will just waste days and hours of your life.

01:53And I saw on, may mga in-interview ng mga pare about depression.

01:57And even yung sinabi ng pare na, you have to combine science and religion.

02:03So I always tell them, wag mo nang palalain yan.

02:06Just take medication.

02:07Go for help.
