PBBM reports on PH economic stats in Q2 2024

Transcript
00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reported on the country's economic stats for the second quarter of 2024.
00:07The chief executive noted that the Philippine economy grew by 6.3 percent in the second quarter of this year,
00:13which is one of the highest growths recorded for the ASEAN region.
00:17The leader of the land attributes this development to the increase in the country's investments due to government's Build Better More program.
00:24Although encouraged by this positive development, the president says that it is more important to make the people feel the effects of the programs and policies that government is doing to better the lives of Filipinos.
00:54This is due to the increase in investments and construction under the Build Better More program.
01:11This June, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.1 percent, one of the lowest on record for the last two decades.
01:19Over 50.3 million Filipinos are now employed, with 63.8 percent of them in the formal sector.
01:27More and more of our fellow Filipinos have a decent and formal way of life and have become part of the middle class.
01:35All of this is in line with our goal of raising every Filipino from poverty.
01:41And we have achieved this.
01:57Our goal is to further reduce this rate to 9 percent by 2028 and improve the lives of 8 million Filipinos.
02:12So I assure you, this government will continue to invest in job-generating infrastructure, social protection programs, health, and education for all Filipinos.
02:22We will not rest on our laurels, but use them to propel us forward into social and economic transformation.
02:28Tayo po ay paparating na sa bagong Pilipinas.
