00:09When booking a flight, do you really need to pay extra for flight insurance?
00:13WalletHub financial analyst Jill Gonzalez told HuffPost if you're booking with a credit
00:17card, you can probably skip it.
00:19It likely already has an insurance plan, and airlines typically have backup for delays
00:23and cancellations.
00:25Make sure that cheap flight you're booking includes checked bags or say goodbye to savings.
00:30If it doesn't, be sure to pay for it before you go, otherwise you'll get hit even more
00:34at the airport, but you could always just pack light and bring a carry-on instead.
00:38Ride-sharing may not be available in every city.
00:41If you need a helicab, MoneyWise says, make sure it has a meter that's running.
00:45No meter, ask how much it'll be, or just walk away, since you're likely gonna get overcharged.
00:49LendingTrees CompareCard's 2018 study found nearly half of credit cards have foreign transactions,
00:55so make sure yours doesn't before you go abroad to avoid getting hit with charges.
00:59ATM withdrawals will probably charge too, so be sure to bring currency with you.
01:04And finally, avoid expensive roaming and data charges when traveling abroad.
01:08See if your carrier has an international plan if you'll be using your phone often.
01:12If not, turn off roaming services on your device.
01:15You may still be able to call and message, and only use data when you're on Wi-Fi.
