02:40for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

06:24The move follows previous leader Ismail Haniyeh's assassination in Tehran on the 31st of July,

06:30the Palestinian group said on Tuesday.

06:3361-year-old Sinwar is seen by Israel as the mastermind behind the October 7th attack,

06:40in which more than 1,100 people were killed and over 200 taken captive.

06:45He has been in deep hiding since then.

06:50Reacting to the appointment, Israel military spokesman Daniel Hagari told Saudi television

06:55that Sinwar's place is next to Hamas commanders Israel already claims to have killed.

07:02Yahya Sinwar is an arch-terrorist responsible for one of the most horrible terror acts in

07:08history, Hagari said, referring to the 7th of October attack on Israel.
