Stunt rider Jonny Davies practising for his attempt to set a new world record for the 'Fastest speed dragged behind a motorcycle’, at Elvington Airfield near York.  This essentially is ‘skiing’ behind a motorcycle at over 160 mph world record attempt.

00:00When he gets on a bike, I've always said, I'd give him a bike with two wheels and he'd find a wheel driver of one.

00:07Hi everyone, Jonny Davies here from JD Stunts. I'm a professional motorcycle stunt rider

00:32and this year I'm going to be attempting the Guinness World Record for the fastest speed

00:35drag behind a motorcycle, which is currently set at 156.3 miles an hour by Gary Rothwell

00:42and he set that in 1999.

00:44And we're at Elvington today, what are you doing here at Elvington, you're just practicing

00:48are you?

00:49Yeah that's right, so today we're at Elvington, this is my final practice before the official

00:53attempt on the 18th of August. So I've dialed on the bike in this morning and just starting

01:00to get the skis on and start jumping off the back and see what speed we can push. We've

01:03got a little bit of a side wind to deal with today, but I've never had to deal with side

01:07wind yet, so we'll see how that goes and if I feel comfy we'll try and get as close to

01:11the record speed as possible.

01:12And what are the skis, what are they made out of?

01:15So the skis are made out of grade 5 titanium, which Red Rose, a titanium specialist, supplied.

01:22And yeah, basically two 3mm sheets welded together with a slight air gap in the bottom

01:27and some 2mm for the straps etc.
