00:00We have with us Director Planning and Coordination PDM of Balochistan, Mr. Naveed Ahmed Sheikh.
00:05Mr. Sheikh, thank you very much for taking out your time for us.
00:07It is obvious that the numbers have been released so far.
00:11Which districts are the most affected in Balochistan?
00:15Assalamu alaikum. First of all, I would like to thank you all.
00:21We have five districts that have been affected by the flood situation.
00:32But thank God, there were not many losses.
00:36Still, there were some losses in the routine rain that I will tell you about in detail.
00:45I will start from here.
00:48We started the prediction from the Met Department on July 7.
00:55In which it was said that 25% more than the previous rainfall in 2022
01:03in which there was a lot of damage in Balochistan.
01:08After that, on July 14, there was a DSR issue from the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
01:17On July 25, and then on August 2, they gave their report again.
01:25In which they will tell about the rainfall in different districts of Balochistan.
01:33What is the estimate of the losses?
01:39According to the daily situation report, we have reported a total of 16 deaths.
01:53In which there are 11 males and 5 females.
01:57In which there are 13 injuries.
01:59In which there are 12 males and 4 females.
02:02And there are about 17 children.
02:05These are the daily reports from different districts.
02:09There is a report from the Deputy Commissioner of DDMA.
02:13We get a daily report from there.
02:16We have a PUC, Emergency Center.
02:20In all the districts, as soon as the monsoon started, we have a routine work.
02:27In which we tell them that in every district, a control room is made near the DC.
02:35So that the losses of each department or the things that are happening there
02:40due to rain or monsoon, they report it.
02:43We update it every 5 hours.
02:48Mr. Sheikh, tell me one thing.
02:51It is very important to understand this.
02:53Because you know that after the earthquake of 2005, the NDMA court was established.
02:57After that, disaster management is responsible.
03:00Provincial departments are also present for this.
03:02Like the Provincial Disaster Management Department is also in Balochistan.
03:05So how equipped is your department?
03:08Or do you solely rely on the help of other departments?
03:12That you issue alerts and they try to facilitate you in it.
03:16How does it work?
03:18There is a procedure, a protocol.
03:20The NDMA Act was made.
03:22All the DDOs were empowered in it.
03:25Along with that, all the departments of the Government of Balochistan,
03:31we have a very close coordination with them.
03:34This was also a part of the Act.
03:36In which Agriculture, Livestock, Local Government, CNW and other departments,
03:41we have a coordination mechanism with all of them.
03:46Whenever such a situation is created in any disaster,
03:50we take all these departments in a loop.
03:54They are sent a direction.
03:56First of all, we issue an early warning.
03:59To start the early warning.
04:01Along with that, the irrigation department,
04:05for encroachment, which is a waterway,
04:07which has always been a river for many years.
04:11I would like to tell you a little about this.
04:14Chief Minister Safad Ahmad Guthi
04:17gave his special instructions to our Director General, Jhansi Khan.
04:21He went to all the districts,
04:23the departments,
04:25our liaison with different departments,
04:28they went to check them.
04:30And whatever was missing there,
04:32like the machinery that was needed,
04:34we also completed that there.
04:36There, we directly issued the letters.
04:38There, the encroachments, the waterways,
04:40they were checked.
04:42We have removed the waterways
04:44so that there can be less water loss.
