Govt to fast-track funding to address Rantau Panjang’s flood issues, says PM

The government will expedite sufficient financial allocations to address the flood issues in Rantau Panjang caused by the Sungai Golok estuary. 00:00We also have a problem with flooding in Kelantan and Malakiwak.

00:10And it's caused by the mora of the river.

00:14The fabric is also affected.

00:16So I told the setter that as long as the mora of the river is not dug,

00:27the water will be affected in Kelantan and around Malakiwak and Sungai Poloh.

00:35And we have witnessed year after year, the fabric continues to deteriorate.

00:39In addition to the steps of flood prevention that we will also see in a moment,

00:45the main problem is the water and the river that is not managed,

00:52because it is not cleaned, and what is it called?

00:59Dredging.

01:04Yes, the mora of the Sungai Poloh.

01:09Because some of it belongs to Malaysia, some of it belongs to Thailand.

01:16But earlier it was agreed to be implemented.

01:20The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Thailand will hold a meeting in Selasa.

01:27And this is among the topics that will be decided.

01:30And basically, both sides have agreed to implement it.

01:34So if it is done technically, we will provide sufficient funding

01:43to continue to clean the river so that it does not become a reservoir

01:50that is close to the flow of water to the sea and causes floods.

01:55This is a very big problem for me in Lantau Panjang and in Kelantan.
