The provincial government of Cavite puts eight of its municipalities under a state of calamity due to the oil spill from the MT Terranova that sank on July 25, 2024 because of the typhoon-enhanced monsoon rains. Affected municipalities are Bacoor, Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario, Tanza, Naic, Maragondon and Ternate. The province also declared a no-catch zone for all shellfish (mussels, crabs, crabs and halaan) in the areas mentioned, according to Gov. Jonvic Remulla on his official social media page on July 31.
