PM agrees to reopen probe into Teoh Beng Hock's death, says Ramkarpal

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has agreed to reopen investigations into Teoh Beng Hock’s death in 2009, according to lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.  Speaking to reporters after a meeting at Perdana Putra on Thursday (Aug 1), Ramkarpal conveyed that Anwar assured Teoh's family members that he would bring this matter to the attention of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain soon. 00:00The family of Mdm Theobeng Hock, namely Theo Lilan, her sister, her mother, her father,

00:15and her son, Mdm Theobeng Hock, and I have met the honorable Prime Minister earlier,

00:23along with the Honorable Gobind Singh Deo.

00:28And during our meeting earlier, Lilan has raised several issues

00:37related to the delay in the investigation into the death of Theobeng Hock.

00:46And of course, the family is not satisfied with the delay.

00:54Of course, an appeal has been made to the Honorable Prime Minister

01:00so that this process can be accelerated by informing the police

01:09to resolve the investigation immediately.

01:14And this has been accepted by the Prime Minister.

01:19The Prime Minister has stated that he will raise this issue with the National Police Chief

01:26in the near future.

01:28And any follow-up steps will also be submitted to the Theobeng Hock family

01:36through me as a lawyer for the family.

01:41In the meeting with the Prime Minister earlier,

01:44the family has expressed their dissatisfaction with the investigation

01:54that was carried out in 2018 that they used Section 342.

02:10The Honorable Prime Minister has stated this

02:15and he will start the investigation

02:25into the case of Theobeng Hock.
