00:07The feature film Double Bended will host its movie premiere this weekend.

00:10The film was shot right here in the River City, and it was written and produced

00:14by Richmond's very own Robert Brown Jr.

00:18How are we feeling? This is very exciting.

00:20It is. It's very exciting.

00:21Yeah, yes, yes.

00:23And tell me a little bit about the movie premiere.

00:25Sure, sure.

00:26Well, the movie premieres at the Bird Theater.

00:28It's a red carpet event.

00:30So people come in in their ball gowns and tuxedos, things of that nature.

00:35So but but yeah, it starts at one thirty at the Bird Theater.

00:40Tickets are on sale on Eventbrite.

00:42All you have to do is search Double Blended.

00:44And you also will see a live performance from a hip hop artist

00:48named Charged Up Vel and a sultry R&B artist.

00:51Her name is Morgan Stewart.

00:53So you're going to have some live entertainment.

00:55And also you're going to have a great movie.

00:57Yeah, showing out.

00:58And tell me a little bit about the movie and what it's all about.

01:00All right. Well, Double Blended, it's about two blended families.

01:04So when you think about a blended family, you have two married couples

01:08who used to be married to each other's ex-spouse.

01:11Whoa. And they decide to come together

01:14for the sake of the kids and raise their family together.

01:17And they also live next door to each other.

01:19So it's it's a it's a light comedy.

01:22It's hilarious.

01:23However, there's something that comes up towards the end.

01:27Secret is exposed.

01:28So that's where the drama happens.

01:30So it's got a lot of emotion.

01:32You're going to have some laughter and then you're going to have some

01:35crying a little bit and drama.

01:36So and what kind of was the idea behind all of this?

01:40Well, all right.

01:41So without exposing anybody, I did know a couple.

01:44Now they weren't married to each other's spouses, but one of them were.

01:47And they went on vacations again and stuff like that.

01:50And I think it just dawned on me because I just have a very,

01:54very different mindset when it comes to movies.

01:58But it just dawned on me.

01:59Hey, what would happen if both of them used to be married to each other?

02:03That would be kind of different.

02:04I don't know if I could adjust to that.

02:05And so that's where the thought came from.

02:07But then, you know, I am a comedian as well.

02:10So I do have a lot of material and things that I pick up from real life situations.

02:14Very cool. And you're not originally from Richmond, right?

02:17But you've been here for a while.

02:19Yeah, yeah. I'm originally from Washington, D.C.

02:21I grew up there, graduated from high school there.

02:23Then I came down here and graduated from Virginia Union University.

02:27And so I just stayed here.

02:28So I've been here for about 30 years.

02:29Awesome. And the film was all shot in Richmond, too, right?

02:32Absolutely. Shot here in Richmond.

02:34Most of the actors and actresses are from Richmond.

02:37We only have one or two, one from D.C.

02:39and one from Alabama that that's also joined the cast.

02:42That's really neat.

02:43Any spots that are going to look familiar to us that maybe you can kind of give us

02:47a little sneak peek?

02:49Well, there's some restaurants.

02:50I want to give a shout out to the Vagabond.

02:53They housed one of our scenes.

02:56And then we also have local houses and offices and individuals homes.

03:01So my home, my next door neighbor's home.

03:03And, you know, they were so pleasant enough to allow us to film there.

03:06And so but yet downtown Richmond, Broad Street, little areas. Yeah.

03:10Cool. I got to watch the trailer before this interview,

03:13and I'm really looking forward to this.

03:15Anything you want people to know about any of this?

03:18Well, basically, you know, you don't have to go out and buy a gown or,

03:22you know, buy a tuxedo or anything like that.

03:24However, you know, it is a classy event upscale.

03:28So it's it's a good time to come out and just have a good time,

03:32dress up, look good and then just be entertained, you know.

03:35And the main focus to here is that, you know, we love to do film here

03:40because we want to bring that that Hollywood type atmosphere here,

03:43you know, to bring more money into the community, to give make people,

03:48you know, you don't have to go to California to, you know, live your dream.

03:51So that is for sure.

03:52And we've got event details up here on our screen.
