00:00The Olympic final of the women's quadruple sculls, many greats of British rowing have

00:16gone for gold in this boat class. So far it has eluded them. Does that change today? China

00:24go in one. They're the defending champions but it hasn't been all their own way in the

00:28last year or so. Ukraine in two. Never count them out. Then it's the Netherlands. You started

00:34well in lane number three. Up on Great Britain already. They could be the biggest threat

00:38here. A brewing rivalry between these two nations over the last few years. Great Britain

00:43are the world champions in four. Germany go in five and Switzerland are in lane number

00:48six. The Netherlands did this in their opening race. They blasted out the blocks in the first

00:52150 metres. They almost had half the length on the rest of the field. My concern here

00:56for the Brits now is they need to stay confident, stay in your rhythm. When you've got a crew

01:01that does something special like that in the first 100-200 metres, it can be slightly disorientated

01:06but it's a good response. They've checked in at half a boat length and now you've got

01:10to keep staying with them. They've got this really strong middle thousand. Don't rely

01:15on it. You've got to execute the rest of your race but just keep working towards it. That's

01:19a very good start from the Dutch squad. Great Britain know that for their powerful midsection

01:24of this 2,000 metre course. As we head towards the first time check, we can see the Netherlands

01:30there leading out Ukraine. They're former European champions, never to be discounted.

01:36500 metres completed. It's the Olympic final. The Netherlands leading. Ukraine sitting in

01:42second place. Great Britain now in third but they're over a second down. My concern here

01:46for the Brits is a lot of the strong races on the left-hand side, they've not got a boat

01:51to the right of them that they can work off of. They've got true, genuine speed. They've

01:55checked that German crew. They need to start pushing away from them. They need to start

01:59going with the Dutch. If they let the Dutch go out there too much, then it's going to

02:03be too late, regardless of the sprint. They're all matching the boat speeds and that's the

02:08fortunate position the Dutch have put themselves in. They can sit there and they can check

02:12the bridges through. You can see Woes de Jong there in the 3C. She's looking out at the

02:16Brits because they know that's where the strength is in this middle section of the race. They'll

02:20be responding. Hannah Scott has got that Olympic level experience too. She needs to start

02:25making the calls. Bring some relaxation in. Great Britain starting to glide up towards

02:31Ukraine. So watch the Balboa off lane four. Now we can see the wide shot. Great Britain

02:35in the middle of the picture. Left-hand side of the orange boat with the Dutch. So they

02:39are creeping in. Yeah, stroke by stroke they've got second place now. They've just got to

02:44keep going. Keep working at it. Be really consistent. Stay like I mentioned. Keep going.

02:50Georgie Brayshaw, drive your crew with that brute force that you've got in that stroke

02:54C. The Dutch are responding. The Dutch are in a good position here because they can respond

02:59on any move that the British women's crew throws at them. They're sitting on the British

03:04at the moment. Last year's World Championships was where Great Britain got the better of

03:07the Dutch. The stroke battle. Will it be the same here? This is the halfway mark. The Netherlands

03:14leaning by half the length, but Great Britain are moving well now. They're up into silver

03:19medal position. Ukraine sitting in third.

03:24They've got to start making moves onto this Dutch women's squad. We've just seen that

03:29shot there where you can see that the British are starting to come back. You've got to stay

03:33on to their bow. Put your bows towards their stern. Keep in contact. Otherwise, you're

03:39going to run out of race track. You want to keep driving on. That number four. Get it

03:44closer to the bows of their boat. Keep driving on. Look at the force of the Dutch squad putting

03:50down.

03:51So many stories within this British boat. Lauren Henry is about to be the youngest member

03:55of Team GB in the rowing squad. Anna Scott from Corbeil in North Ireland. Everyone's

04:00watching her from the rowing club where she started her journey. Lola Anderson in the

04:05three seat, inspired by London 2012, wrote in her diary, I want to be an Olympic champion.

04:11She threw it away. She thought it was silly. Her dad handed it back to her years later.

04:16He sent it far away a couple of years ago. Now she rows for him. And Georgie Brayshaw

04:22paralyzed down the left-hand side from a riding accident at the age of 15. Now she's in an

04:27Olympic final. Are they starting to move? Yeah, the British have just taken a seat.

04:31That was a really nice move. They're up their rate from 36 to 37. They've got more space

04:35to go. And they can wind this in now. Last 500. Take your first step. Take your second

04:41step. Keep moving that boat speed.

04:43They have so much power in this British squad. They have 500 metres to make their Olympic

04:51dream come true. They are the best Olympic band in the Netherlands. And they have beaten

04:57them. This year they've beaten them within the World Championship Contest. Can they do

05:02it here at the Olympic Games?

05:04It's an absolute high priority for the British women to start to move. Start taking that

05:10level up. Start bringing in the extra ring. They've got two pips to play. But they've

05:14got to be in a really positive position where they can check every single move. So you've

05:18got to do something special here in the last 330 metres. You've got to move. But advancing

05:24policies struggling in that two seat. So really stay strong. Lauren and Hannah need to start

05:29going now. Start making calls to say they're moving, making bets into the Dutch league.

05:34Great Britain at 38 strokes per minute. The Netherlands overrating them at 40. And they

05:41still sit half an acre on the World Champions Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The sound

05:49is growing on the grandstands. It is now really for Great Britain. Are their Olympic dreams
