00:00Ten days ago, Lucie Guester was unknown to the wider public.

00:04Now she's on a mission to gain the French's approval, starting on the streets of Lille.

00:09Her visit, an opportunity to put pressure on the President to appoint her as Prime Minister.

00:14All I can do is show that I'm ready, that we're hard at work and to remind Macron of

00:19institutional logic, which is appointing the political group that came first in the elections

00:23to form a government.

00:25Guester was put forward by the left-wing New Popular Front coalition last Tuesday after

00:29weeks of infighting over who should lead France's next government.

00:33She works as a top financial officer for the city of Paris, with a background in fighting

00:38tax evasion and financial crime.

00:40But so far, Macron has refused to appoint anyone, declaring a so-called political truce

00:45for the duration of the Olympic Games.

00:47The New Popular Front is showing no sign of giving up.

00:51Word on the street is that Lucie Guester will never be appointed.

00:54But you know we have more than one trick up our sleeve and we're very determined.

00:58And he's going to have to explain to people here why he's not appointing an NFP Prime

01:03Minister when that's what voters have asked for.

01:06If appointed, Guester has made it clear she would carry out the New Popular Front's ambitious

01:10programme.

01:11Despite not having an outright majority in parliament, she says consensus can be found

01:15on a number of issues, including the repeal of Macron's controversial pension reform and

01:20the improvement of access to public services.
