Hi kids! Today we will be identifying various 3D figures from their nets. So let's get started!
00:14
Here we have a triangular prism. Prism is a 3D shape in which the top and bottom faces
00:24
are same shape and size, and all the other faces are rectangles. Here, top and bottom
00:34
faces are triangular in shape, and all other faces are rectangular. Let's open it to see
00:44
the shape of net it forms. This is the net of a triangular prism. If we cut open a 3D
00:54
shape, we get all its faces. So in this net we have two triangular faces and three rectangular
01:04
faces. Now let's see another 3D shape. Here we have a pentagonal prism. Pentagonal prism
01:16
is a 3D shape in which the top and bottom faces are pentagon shape, and all the other
01:24
faces are rectangles. Let's open it to see the shape of net it forms. This is the net
01:35
of pentagonal prism, where we can clearly see all the faces of pentagonal prism. Its
01:46
top and bottom faces are pentagon in shape, and all the other faces are rectangular. Now
01:55
let's see another 3D shape. Here we have a rectangular prism that has rectangular top
02:03
and bottom, and all the other faces are rectangular too. It resembles cuboid shape. Now let's
02:14
cut open its faces. This is the net of rectangular prism, where we can clearly see all the faces
02:23
of rectangular prism. Its top and bottom faces, which are rectangles, and all the other faces
02:31
are rectangular too. Now let's see another 3D shape. Here we have a rectangular prism,
02:42
and we have to see which 3D figure does it belong to. Can you figure it out? See it carefully.
02:53
As we can see this net has two hexagons, and all the other faces are rectangles, so it's
03:01
a hexagonal prism. As we know, prisms have two similar faces on top and bottom, and all
03:12
the other faces are rectangular. Kids, now let's revise what is a pyramid. Pyramid is
03:23
a 3D shape, where it has a single base, which can be of any polygon shape, like triangle,
03:33
square, rectangle, or pentagon. And all other faces are triangular in shape, that converge
03:43
to a single point at the top, which is called its apex. Now let's make nets of pyramids.
03:55
Here we have a triangular pyramid. It has a triangular base, and all its other faces
04:02
are also triangle in shape, that converge to a single point at the top. Now let's see,
04:12
if we open it, how its net would look like. It would look like this. It will show all
04:20
the triangular faces. Now let's take another example. Here we have a square pyramid. It
04:29
has a square base, and all its other faces are triangular, that converge to a single
04:36
point at the top, which is the apex. Now let's see, if we open it, how its net would look
04:45
like. It would look like this. It will show its square base and the other triangular faces.
04:55
So kids, today we learned about various 3D shapes and their nets. Let's have a quick
05:03
look at some shapes and their nets. This is cuboid and its net. This is triangular prism
05:15
and its net. This is a square prism and its net. This is pentagon prism and here is its
05:26
net. Now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more. Bye-bye.
