We have a special guest joining us in studio.
00:04
It's Hulk Hogan.
00:05
I did not see this coming.
00:06
No?
00:07
Brother, I didn't see it coming either.
00:08
When I landed at Detroit Airport, brother, I thought I was going against Andre the Giant
00:14
or, ooh, yeah, the Macho Man or Rowdy Roddy Piper, but I'm here to sell beer, guys.
00:19
That's awesome.
00:20
I don't have to work.
00:22
The real American beer that you have introduced and will be all around Detroit today.
00:26
We'll get to where you'll be coming up in a minute.
00:28
Cool, cool.
00:30
You started reminiscing immediately.
00:31
Oh, yeah.
00:32
I mean, because I'm a huge professional wrestling fan, and the first time I watched wrestling
00:35
was at my grandfather's knee in rural Wisconsin watching the old AWA stuff with Vern Gagne.
00:41
Oh, boy.
00:42
That's where Hulkamania started.
00:44
I know.
00:45
Believe me.
00:46
I know.
00:47
I mean, I'm not a historian, but I'd like to think I kind of am.
00:49
I know all this stuff about wrestling, and the first time I ever saw the matches was
00:53
live, was at Cobo to see you and Dr. D. David Schultz, but obviously there's a lot of history
00:58
here, man, and coming back to Detroit, how often do you get to Detroit?
01:01
Because this is one of the hotbeds of professional wrestling.
01:04
Well, over the 40 years of my career, we came here all the time to wrestle, from Joe Louis,
01:09
Cobo, Richfield Coliseum.
01:10
Oh, I'm not Richfield.
01:11
I mean, Silverdome.
01:12
You get the buildings mixed up here, but yeah, I was in and out of here all the time.
01:18
Then a buddy of mine, Tony Carlini, did all the prototypes for Iacocca, so I was bouncing
01:23
in and out doing car stuff with him, so I spent a lot of time here in Detroit.
01:27
What's your favorite car, out of curiosity?
01:28
Well, I'm a Mopar guy, bro.
01:29
Okay.
01:30
So right now, I mean, I have all the old stuff.
01:31
I got a couple of 69 Roadrunners, a couple of 71 Kudos, but I got the new stuff, too.
01:37
I got all the Hellcats, all the Red Eyes, but the two cars I just bought, the Demon
01:42
170s, those 1,025-horsepower Demons, those things are crazy, but yeah, it's all Mopar
01:49
and no car for me.
01:50
I mean, you're driving those things, you only drive them on a track somewhere, or is this
01:54
a-
01:55
No, brother, I don't tear my stuff up.
01:56
No, I don't.
01:57
I really don't do that.
01:58
I just like fast cars and like to have the gas pedal there if you need it, but nothing
02:02
crazy, man.
02:03
You know, nothing crazy.
02:04
I take care of my stuff.
02:05
Do you miss the ring?
02:06
Yes.
02:07
It kills me not to be able to go out there, because every night, I start jonesing about
02:11
7, 38 o'clock, you know?
02:13
I start getting this turbulence, you know?
02:16
And it's kind of weird, because it's like the ultimate workout.
02:18
You get to go out there and wear yourself out completely.
02:21
You sweat yourself to death from head to toe, and you know, it's more or less the physicality
02:28
and being around all the guys and having that part of my life.
02:32
I do miss the crowds and the people, because the energy was nuts, but I miss it a lot.
02:36
What's your best memory of Detroit?
02:37
Best memory?
02:38
Well, of course, bro, it had to be WrestleMania III, you know, Pontiac Silverdome.
02:44
I mean, the Cobo Arena in Joe Louis, I've got some crazy memories there.
02:48
I had some wars in those buildings, but you know, I've got to go back to, you know, WrestleMania
02:53
III.
02:54
That's the one.
02:55
Did you ever wrestle the original Sheik?
02:57
No.
02:58
Not the one from Detroit.
02:59
No.
03:00
Because that guy was the most terrifying wrestler I ever saw in my life.
03:05
Even to this day, the original Sheik, who's a legend in Detroit, was like the ultimate
03:10
heel of professional wrestling.
03:13
Who was the ultimate heel that you wrestled?
03:15
Well, you said his name earlier.
03:18
The ultimate heel actually was Dr. D. David Schultz during the day.
03:21
I mean, he's the one that slapped John Stossel.
03:24
He's the one that was just like, you know, way over the top.
03:28
He would not even let his guard down.
03:30
If he said professional wrestling was fake or you put on a good show, he would go bonkers
03:36
on you.
03:37
He was real stiff.
03:38
Is there ever a wrestler that you're like, I don't understand why this guy isn't making
03:42
it?
03:43
I mean, he's got the moves and he's just not getting the notoriety.
03:46
Well, you know, a lot of guys don't figure it out.
03:49
A lot of guys, you know, are in the business 20, 30, 40 years like me and they make a living
03:54
and they pride themselves on being a main event guy or a semi-main event guy or a mid-card
03:59
guy.
04:00
But there's an art form to this, you know, and a lot of people don't have the it factor.
04:04
Like the it factor like The Rock had or like Stone Cold Steve Austin had or like Andre
04:08
the Giant had.
04:10
And you know, once you got to figure the business out, there's a lot more to it than just wrestling
04:13
in the ring.
04:14
You know, so you have to be a pretty good businessman, you know, to do the merchandise
04:18
and all the ancillary stuff and basically protect your character and be innovative enough
04:23
to change your character and make transitions and stay healthy.
04:28
A lot of guys don't know how to stay healthy out there because you do get hurt really bad
04:32
out there.
04:33
I've had 27 surgeries and actually 30, over 30 surgeries in the last 12 years.
04:39
Just in the last 12 years since you've...
04:41
Yeah, my body shut down on me.
04:42
I've had 10 back surgeries, both hips, both knees done, two shoulders, abs, orbital socket
04:48
fixed several times from getting kicked in the face.
04:51
Nobody gave me the memo that stuff is fake.
04:53
Well, you broke your leg when you first started and the Briscoes took you out of construction.
04:57
I didn't break my leg, they did.
04:58
They broke your leg.
04:59
The very first day they broke my leg, you know, just because they wanted to run me off.
05:04
I was playing at a rock and roll band.
05:06
I had real long blonde hair and went down there and thought I could be a wrestler and
05:09
they broke my leg and said, don't ever come back again.
05:12
And yet you came back.
05:13
Yes, sir.
05:14
Well, the Real American Beer, what are people getting when they sample the Real American
05:18
Beer?
05:19
They're getting the beer that America's been waiting for.
05:22
Brother, we worked really hard to get this right simply because, you know, we really
05:27
believe that this is going to be America's new beer.
05:30
From the response we're getting, we knew we had something good.
05:34
We had no idea it was going to be this big, this fast.
05:37
So we're a little bit overwhelmed at response.
05:40
But I think people are getting a beer that they're going to continue drinking for generations.
05:43
I think this is going to be a generational transition that people are going to move away
05:47
from a lot of the Anheuser-Busch products, the Coor products, the Pass Blue Ribbon, and
05:51
get on Team Hogan.
05:52
And I think once they taste the beer, they're going to realize that we're for real.
05:55
Well, you're moving around Metro Detroit today.
05:57
I'm going to run down your schedule here.
05:58
I dare you.
05:59
American Party Store in Troy at 2.30, Beverage Warehouse in Beverly Hills at 4, O'Toole's
06:05
in Royal Oak at 7.30, and the Old Shillelagh in Detroit at 8.45.
06:08
I know all four of those places.
06:09
You're going to be very busy.
06:10
And there's no time to eat or go to the bathroom.
06:13
Great.
06:14
Thanks, Chad.
06:15
Appreciate it, brother.
06:16
Thanks for stopping by.
06:17
Enjoy your stop in Detroit.
06:18
You guys are awesome, man.
06:19
Thank you.
06:20
There he is.
06:21
Thanks, Hulk.
06:22
Wow.
06:23
Hulk Hogan Institute.
06:24
That's Hulk Hogan.
06:25
I know.
06:26
That just happened.
06:27
I know.
06:28
This doesn't feel real.
06:30
I love that.
06:31
24-ounce Python.
06:32
24-ounce Pythons.
06:33
Chad, did you hear that?
06:34
24-ounce Pythons.
06:35
I'm an idea guy.
06:36
Yeah, you are.
06:37
I'm an idea guy.
06:38
Wow, that's strong.
06:39
Actually, I do have Andre the Giant's license, too.
06:41
Oh, yeah?
06:42
Yeah.
06:43
I was the only wrestler that he kind of liked.
06:44
And I went to his daughter and said, I'd love to sell some of Andre's stuff.
06:47
She goes, well, you were the only wrestler that my dad ever talked about and liked.
06:51
So we're actually talking about doing 40-ounce real American slams, you know, 40-ounce beers.
06:56
Oh, yeah.
06:57
So all that stuff is in the works.
07:00
Best of luck.
07:01
Thanks for stopping by.
07:02
Thanks, guys.
07:03
Thanks, Hulk.
07:04
Thank you, brothers.
07:05
Hulk Hogan joining us in studio.
07:06
Thanks, guys.
07:07
Unexpected and certainly all around Detroit, you are thrilled.
07:12
What's today, Wednesday?
07:13
Gator is absolutely thrilled.
07:18
You know, we had an inkling like an hour ago, somebody said something.
07:22
Yeah.
07:23
Like, hey, rumor has it that he might.
07:24
I'm like, what?
07:25
What?
07:26
Hulk Hogan.
07:27
Interesting.
07:28
All right.
07:30
You know what this is?
07:31
This is like if suddenly you look at the inverse of this.
07:35
What would be the inverse of this where I would ask all the questions and you would just
07:39
kind of say.
07:40
If Tom Brady's behind me.
07:41
It would be Tom Brady.
07:42
100% if it were Tom Brady.
07:43
Or Jack Campbell.
