00:33Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has attended a military parade in northern Cyprus
00:39where Turkish Cypriots are celebrating what they consider their freedom and the establishment
00:44of their breakaway state.
00:47But in the south the day is sombre as commemorations take place and wreaths are laid in remembrance
00:53of those who lost their lives in the conflict.
00:57A memorial event will be held at the Presidential Palace in Nikosia which will be attended by
01:03Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
01:08It's the first time a Greek Prime Minister will be present at the service.
01:13Cyprus was split in two after Ankara invaded the island in July 1974 following a coup by
01:20the Greek military junta which toppled the legitimate Cyprus government.
01:24A UN buffer zone has been in place ever since.

01:37Latvia in one of his last working trips in his role.
01:41Borrell met with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Brasa and Minister of Defence
01:46Andris Spruds before taking a tour of a military base near Riga.
01:52While in Latvia he discussed the importance of standing united in the face of Russian
01:56aggression and stressed the need for more and quicker support for Ukraine.
02:02His trip follows his visit to Estonia on Friday where he met caretaker Prime Minister Kaya
02:08Kalas who is also his designated successor as High Representative for Foreign Affairs
02:13and Security Policy.
02:15He then toured the Tapa army base with Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Margis Zagna.
02:22Borrell described Estonia as a good example of a country committed to providing military
02:28deterrence against Russia and increasing defence capabilities.
02:33He said the European Union has a strategic responsibility to work together more and enhance
02:39its defensive readiness.
02:43Police have clashed with protesters in La Rochelle where demonstrations are taking place
02:48against an artificial water reservoir project in the area.
02:54One officer is reportedly suffering with burns while five protesters are being treated for
02:59minor injuries.

03:07The artificial reservoirs have received backlash for being a non-permanent solution and there
03:12are concerns about their ecological impact.
03:20Four boats carrying more than 300 migrants have docked at the Spanish island of Gran
