00:00So today we're going to be taking a look at the aerial prize for the upcoming Battle Pass,

00:04and that is going to be the PBM-5A Mariner, which is going to be a US vehicle coming in at rank 3.

00:11Now as you can see this is a float plane, in fact we've already got a few of the PBMs in game,

00:16you've got the PBM-1 as a tech tree vehicle, and the PBM-3 which was an event vehicle from quite a

00:21few years ago. One of the big differences between the previous models and the PBM-5

00:27is the fact that this has an undercarriage, so this can land at airfields and on the water,

00:32unlike the previous models which could only land on the water. In fact I think this is one of the

00:37few amphibian aircraft in the game other than the Catalina, at least that I can think of off the top

00:42of my head. It also comes with an extremely large payload, so this can carry up to 5,000 kilograms

00:49of bombs or a little under 12,800 pounds. If this is like with the PBM-3, it will be able to carry

00:55up to 8 1,000 pound bombs or 8 1,600 pound AP bombs. We can also see in the trailer it can carry

01:02two torpedoes, and again like with the PBM-3 it's likely able to carry mines, so that would be very

01:09good for blocking off narrow straits in naval battles, which could surprise some enemies or

01:13at least block off parts of the map for enemy ships. And basically due to its large bomb load,

01:19it will be a very good choice for air, ground and naval battles. Now in theory it does have

01:25more powerful engines, I believe they're 2,100 horsepower engines, but due to the increase in

01:30weight from all of the various modifications it's likely not going to be much different

01:34than the previous aircraft. So it's going to be very slow, very ponderous because it is very large.

01:39The wingspan is literally longer than the B-17, so like I say it's going to be very sluggish when

01:46in the air. It has been fitted with a little bit of increased armor and it does have pretty good

01:52defensive armament, so you've got three twin turrets, one fore, one aft and one on the roof,

01:57and then two single mounts in the waist position. So very good coverage all around except for below

02:02the aircraft, but decent enough defensive armament. And even if you do get attacked,

02:07it is said to be very durable due to its large size and the amount of empty space within the

02:12aircraft. And it has been fitted with a search radar, so I suppose you will get a bit of heads

02:17up on any enemies approaching you, but like I mentioned earlier it is a very slow aircraft,

02:22so even if you know the enemy's coming towards you, you're still going to be

02:26very vulnerable to said enemies. Your options to escape them is going to be rather limited.

02:31But overall this looks to be a very good prize for the Battle Pass. I mean this is already better

02:36than the P-51C from the last one, because like I say we have already got PBMs in game, but this is

02:42quite substantially different from those previous ones. So it is fairly unique without being

02:48something that should have been added to the tech tree really. And it is nice to see that we're

02:53getting more float planes, and like I say this can land at an airfield as well, so that just

02:57boosts its usefulness in game. And yeah this is the sort of prize I would like to see added to the

03:02Battle Pass, so yeah looking forward to this one. Anyway just a quick video looking at the PBM-5
