I'm Rich Harris, Chair of Rutland Camera. We came here in April and we're delighted to award Jamie
00:09
and Luby with our Rutland Camera Pub of the Year. Fantastic pub as I said at the time and the guys
00:16
worked so hard here to produce this for you. We're delighted also that it's now been recognised
00:25
outside of the county of Rutland and I'd like to introduce Mr Philip Tiplady who is the area
00:33
camera area organiser for not only Rutland, not only Northamptonshire but also Leicestershire.
00:40
I now would like to say a few words.
00:53
Camera organises a national pub of the year competition which starts with branches
00:59
organising their pubs of the year then those pubs go into bigger and bigger areas until we get to
01:05
the national final. First round in this part of the world is around the time responsible for in
01:12
Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland. All the branches, about eight I think in that area,
01:21
put their pubs of the year forward. Camera members do the hard job of going around and judging the
01:27
pubs. Not only on the quality of the beer but the welcome they receive, the service behind the bar,
01:38
how comfortable they find the pub, how friendly they find the customers.
01:48
The atmosphere in the pub which the management and the customers make together is
01:54
very enforced in finding a pub where people are comfortable and want to stay and make the best of
02:00
the British pub. I've not been into this pub very often but when I do come back my name is remembered
02:18
behind the bar which is a pub with a remarkable service to the customers who wander in occasionally.
02:27
I'm sure they feel even better about those of you who are here regularly.
02:33
Anyway the winner in our area which is why I'm here was this pub and I have come to bring a stick of juice.
02:48
Are you happy to pass on to me now?
03:08
I would like to thank John, Paul,
03:13
Philip here. I'd like to thank Philip for making all the effort to come all the way from Leicester to present this award.
03:23
Very kind of you. I do only accept this award on behalf of not just myself but my beloved dear wife.
03:35
I remember a staff that's probably about a year in now I should think.
03:51
Yeah, as you well know it wouldn't really work trying to win such an award if we didn't have
04:08
such great locals. Without you it wouldn't happen so first and foremost I'd like to thank all of you
04:17
for supporting us now and over the nearly last five years.
04:30
Thanks to all the doggies that have sort of come in over the last few months, some surreptitiously,
04:36
some maybe not so surreptitiously but it gives us great pleasure to, well it gives me
04:43
great pleasure to try and find ales from awful corners of the UK, even the Isle of Wight.
04:51
Chris Mainston, he's brought back Harveys this week. John McAvoy has brought back the Bathems.
04:59
Dean's Electric Landlady, a big shout out to Dean and Jill as well.
05:03
And of course 10.50s are our sort of marker dark ale of the pub and it stays that way 99% of the time.
05:12
So apart from that I don't want to go on and on and on too much but there are some pasties
05:18
coming up shortly. There's a few vegetarian stroke vegan pasties and then there's about
05:23
60 meat pasties all the way from Bodmin. Rutland pasties we're calling them from Bodmin.
