Three Detroit-area car dealerships hit by thieves overnight

Local dealerships are increasingly becoming the targets of car thieves.  Three were victimized all within just a few hours the morning of Thursday, July 18. WWJ's Charlie Langton reports.

00:00I'm here in East Point, Genesis Chevy.

00:05This is another dealership.

00:07Apparently, early Thursday morning, suspects took a car, probably stolen,

00:15bashed through the gate here, the garage, to get in to the dealership.

00:21You can see the damage there.

00:23But what happened was when they couldn't get out, couldn't get anything out,

00:29they crossed the street to this other part of the Genesis dealership,

00:35and then shots were fired by the suspects, and they took off,

00:41according to the security guard here.

00:43East Point Police, you can see, on the scene investigating,

00:47and that's where we are today.

00:50Doesn't look like anything was stolen, just some damage here in East Point.
