00:06We always just look at the story that we're telling and where we are in the process,
00:10what we've done so far. Coming into this season, there's already 50 episodes of this franchise
00:16and the three original movies that preceded it. And the fourth, if we're talking about the next
00:22Karate Kid, there's a lot of material, there are a lot of villains, there are a lot of
00:26sub-villains and villain-adjacent individuals. So you reach into those bag of tricks and you say,
00:33is this additive to the story? Is this extending this universe? Is this taking this storyline that
00:40was set in motion X number of seasons ago or X number of movies ago and driving it forward and
00:46helping tell the story that we're currently telling? Because as you know, we already have
00:51a lot of characters on this supposed half-hour show. It has to be additive, it has to be
00:56juicy, it has to be exciting for the fans who get excited about it and not just be gratuitous.
01:03This is the final season and there have been some characters from the past that fans have
01:09been clamouring to see that we haven't seen yet. I'm specifically talking about
01:13Hilary Swank's Julie and Michael Ironside's Colonel Duggan from the same film, the next
01:19Karate Kid. Why haven't they shown their faces and what conversations did you have about bringing
01:24them back? We're unfortunately not able to talk about any characters that haven't appeared on the
01:29show to this point. We always like to keep it a surprise as the season is dropping as to who may
01:37or may not show up going forward. So every character that's been in the Karate Kid universe,
01:43we've talked about in the writers room and we'll find out who shows up and who doesn't.
