Austrian government announces new obligations for asylum seekers

00:10will require them to work whilst in the country.

00:13The new measures mean that refugees will be obliged to do charitable work for the federal,

00:18state and local governments, or at companies with at least five community service workers,

00:24in the nursing service or in homeless shelters.

00:28The country's interior minister, Gerhard Kahner, announced the new measures that came

00:33into effect for asylum seekers in Austria from Tuesday, the 16th of July.

00:40The new measures are intended to strengthen the integration of refugees.
