00:00Making a reference to the papal tradition of nominating a pope, this

00:04newspaper headline reads there's no white smoke on the left. The bloc in

00:09disarray more than a week after it came out on top in parliamentary polls. The

00:14France Unbowed party has failed to get behind the candidacy of economist

00:18Laurence Tobiana for the prime minister's post. Now other parties from

00:22within the group are calling on the far left to get in line. It's a

00:27distressing situation and I will say it again to Manuel Bampard. If he wants to

00:32leave the new popular front it's a heavy responsibility he'd be taking on. It'd be

00:37serious but maybe France Unbowed prefers to be in opposition. It's a much more

00:41comfortable position, criticizing everything, saying no to everything and

00:45voting on no-competence motions. There were hopes a prime minister would

00:50be named before France's new parliament convenes on Thursday. However some within

00:55the new popular front alliance are suggesting the bloc may need more time.

00:59By the end of July or the start of August. In any case we need to

01:05move forward because we have a contract with the French. It's called the new

01:09popular front. There are policy proposals the people wants us to put in place.

01:15Gabriel Attal submitted his resignation last week after the outcome of the

01:20recent election. While the president asked him to remain in the role until a

01:24new government is formed, it seems that the prime minister may likely be in

01:28place for a little longer to ensure things continue to run smoothly in

01:32France once the Olympics get underway next week.
