00:00I'm now going to show you the moment that just happened when the former president was

00:27So what you're watching is video from just a few moments ago when former President Donald
00:32Trump was on stage at his rally.
00:34You see the secret service who were surrounding him.
00:39You see how they got him to the ground and that they were waiting to move him after we
00:45heard those noises.
00:46We don't know what those noises were at this point.
00:50We do know that they get him off the stage and that the former president was in his armored
00:55vehicle.
00:56They have now left the site of that incident.
00:59So the former president, Donald Trump, no longer there at that rally site in Butler,
01:04Pennsylvania.
01:05I'm going to let you watch more to see this full thing unfold.
01:08You see they move him off the stage.
01:16He is standing up.
01:22It's unclear what his status is, but you see him put his fist up and you see him doing
01:30a fist pump.
01:31It appears like he's saying fight.
01:35It looks as if there might be blood on his ear again.
01:40These are pictures we are just seeing for the first time right now as the former president
01:44is led off the stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, after we heard loud noises and he was rushed
01:51to the ground.
01:52And then you see the secret service around him getting him into his vehicle.
01:58Now we do not know where he is gone.
02:01We just know that he was put into that car right there.
02:05While you see his fist in the air, it does appear as if there is some blood on his ear.
02:10Unclear how that happened.
02:12Secret service get him into the vehicle and rush him off that site and get him out of
02:18there.
02:19Again, we don't know where the former president is at this exact moment, only that he was
02:24taken away from the rally site there in Butler, Pennsylvania.
02:29Again, if you were just tuning in, former president Donald Trump was minutes into his
02:35rally there in Pennsylvania when we heard loud noises.
02:39He was thrown to the ground by secret service agents who then rushed him in as you're watching
02:44now to that car and drove him off site.
02:48Our reporter Elena Treen witnessed this all unfold.

02:53I want to go out to Elena so she can tell us more of what she saw from her vantage point.

02:59Hi, Jessica.
03:00Yeah, so it's been a very chaotic couple of minutes.
03:05A lot of tension right now out here.
03:08So as you mentioned, Donald Trump was on stage.
03:10It was just moments after he had walked onto the stage to deliver remarks.
03:14He was very briefly into that.
03:16And so I'm going to show you behind me.
03:18So around this area, somewhere off on that field over there, is where we heard a bunch
03:23of banging or cracking, loud cracking noises.
03:26At first I thought, is that fireworks?
03:28I had no idea what it was.
03:31All of a sudden, everyone started screaming.
03:33On the other side of the rally, on the other side of the stage, a lot of steam went off
03:38back here, right behind that tractor over there, if you can see it.
03:41And all of a sudden, you heard secret service, security guards on the ground, everyone telling
03:45one to get down, to move, to move.
03:48I actually had to jump off this riser right here and went under the riser.
03:53So I didn't get to see everything that was happening as Donald Trump was being moved
03:56off the stage.
03:58But clearly right now, everybody is being evacuated from this rally venue.
04:03They are very angry.
04:05You can hear people in the crowd are, some people are crying.
04:09Some people are screaming.
04:10People are very angry with what just happened.
04:12They're angry at the media.
04:13They're screaming at the media behind me.
04:16Very unclear exactly what happened.
04:19We know that Donald Trump, of course, left the venue immediately.
04:22He was escorted off the stage by secret service.
04:24We saw his motorcade quickly leave and drive off.
04:29We don't have many answers right now.
04:31Also my phones are jammed.
04:32I've been trying to see if I could contact some of Donald Trump's team, get any sort
04:36of update.
04:37There's no service or signal right now.
04:39So we're all just trying to see what exactly is happening.
04:42What is the state of the former president?
04:44How Donald Trump is doing?
04:46And what exactly happened here this evening?

04:56Is anyone else, do they appear to be injured?
04:58And it appears like whatever happened doesn't look like they think it's still a threat because
05:02people are still moving around.
05:06That's right.
05:07It's not a threat.
05:08A couple minutes.
05:09I don't even know how long.
05:11About a minute.
05:12I would say that we were all on the ground, that they had us hiding, people to get down.
05:16After that, we were given an all clear, I believe from Secret Service.
05:20Again, I was under the riser hiding after we had heard those, whatever that sound was,
05:25whether it was fireworks or whatnot.
05:27I don't want to try to speculate on what that noise was.
05:31It does not appear from what I can tell that anyone was injured.
05:33But I honestly can't say that completely accurately right now.
05:37We really do not have a lot of information at this time.
05:41But as I can see from my own vantage point here, looking at this stage as I've been scanning
05:44the ground, I haven't seen any stretchers.
05:46I haven't seen them bring in any sort of trucks.
05:49But again, we really don't know.
05:51Everyone is being evacuated.
05:52And I think we will get some more answers soon as we continue to hear from the people
05:56on the ground and the people running the show here tonight in Butler.

06:16Jeff, before we start talking, just for anyone that's just tuning in, I want to give them
06:21the headlines here.
06:22What they are looking at are live pictures coming out of Butler, Pennsylvania, where
06:28some loud noises were heard.
06:31We don't know exactly what they were yet.
06:33All we know is that former President Donald Trump was speaking.
06:36We heard the loud noises.
06:37He was several minutes into his speech.
06:40He dropped to the ground.
06:41Secret Service swarmed the stage.
06:44They lifted him back up.
06:46He put a fist in the air.
06:47He did appear to have blood coming from his ear.
06:50We now know that he was whisked away.
06:52He was put into one of those armored vehicles and whisked away.
06:56He has left that site.
06:58So that is the state of play.
06:59There are a lot of questions right now, Jeff.
07:02It was a very, it's a scary thing to watch unfold.
07:04There's a lot of unknown.
07:06As Elena was just laying out for us, nobody quite knows exactly what happened yet.
07:13But Jeff, in a moment like this, it just kind of, it scares everyone that was there.
07:20And it is a hard thing to kind of take in and watch unfold, not knowing exactly what's
07:26happened yet.
07:27Well, Jessica, it absolutely is.
07:29And let's go through what we do know.
07:31We do know that former President Donald Trump, as you said, is in Butler, Pennsylvania.
07:35It's about 30 minutes or so, a little bit more than that, from Pittsburgh.
07:38Of course, Pennsylvania, a key swing state.
07:41So this rally was supposed to be really kind of a launching pad to the Republican convention
07:46next week.
07:47It's very near Ohio, where J.D. Vance, of course, is a senator.
07:50So there's been a lot of speculation.
07:52He is one of the running mates.
07:54But when you attend a Trump rally, as both you and I have many times, he is the former
08:00president.
08:01As much security details, the U.S. Secret Service screens everyone going into these
08:06rallies.
08:07At least that is the protocol.
08:08Of course, we will learn much more once we, once this develops.
08:15But you can't just arrive at a Trump rally and watch.
08:18You are screened as though you were going to any type of an official event.
08:22So you can see there, the crowd has cleared.
08:25As Elena was reporting, it does not appear to still be an active incident.
08:29You can see the officers there putting the crime tape.
08:32Those are local officers.
08:33But this will be under the control of the U.S. Secret Service.
08:36They travel with the former president.
08:38He has a protective detail, just like a sitting president or a former president, slightly
08:44smaller than a sitting president.
08:46So we do not know the details of the former president's injuries, the extent of them.
08:51We are reaching out to his team.
08:52But many of them are on the ground with him there.
08:54So you can imagine how chaotic this scene is.
08:57You can see the officers there urging the crowd to leave.
09:01But this was supposed to be a marquee rally, sending him off into the Republican convention.
09:06It's one of the really brighter spots of this Trump campaign.
09:11The Republican convention was a celebratory moment here.
09:16This now will change that considerably.
09:19So as we check more from our sources and colleagues on the ground there, this is an
09:25epic moment, a tragedy.
09:28We will hope it does not extend more than that here.
09:32But certainly this goes beyond any political tensions in this country.
09:37Yeah, it certainly does.
09:38And Jeff, I want to play the video for everyone to watch the moment.

09:48This was Donald Trump being led off the stage.
09:51You see he does appear to have some blood there on his right ear.
09:56He is being kind of held up by Secret Service officers there.
10:00As Jeff mentioned, we don't know how injured he was or is.
10:05We do know that he was put into that vehicle and driven away.
10:10And Jeff, again, Elena was describing, Elena Train, who is on the scene there in Butler,
10:15who was covering this rally, was describing these loud popping sounds that came from one
10:19side and then kind of some steam or something else that came from the other side there.
