Over 100,000 people in the UK have student debt of over £50,000. Are you still paying back student debt? Is student debt worth it? Should the govt help people paying back student debt?

00:03No, I'm retired so I don't pay student debt. One of my children is paying student debt

00:17It should be affordable for the student, but students come out of university on salaries

00:23probably £40,000, £50,000 a year, so I don't think it's unreasonable.

00:28Out of that, they should be paying some of their student loan back?

00:33Yeah, I think so. I think that figure's phenomenal really, why they're that much in debt,

00:37and obviously if they're not going to pay it off until they get a proper job that they're trained

00:41for. Yeah, but definitely there should be more in place. I think the fee should come down,

00:45to be honest with you, because then they wouldn't get in the debt.

00:48Do you think that kind of debt is worth it?

00:51I've got friends who've had student debt, who've been to university, and they're not doing

00:54any jobs to what they had their degree on, so no, sometimes it's not.
