00:09making good on my commitment at a meeting with Scottish Labour leader

00:13Anna Sarwar in Edinburgh just two days after the election.

00:17Starmer, whose party won 37 seats in Scotland,

00:21said he would travel there first before heading to Northern Ireland and Wales

00:24to cement the relationship with the country's devolved governments.

00:29Thank you, Anna, my friend. Without your leadership,

00:32we would not have achieved this here in Scotland.

00:35And I can't tell you how important it is to me to be here in Scotland with you

00:4248 hours after the King invited me to form a government.

00:49That was an incredible honour and privilege.

00:52And to be here two days later, making good on my commitment to Scotland

00:57by making a start is hugely important to me.

01:00And to be with you and us for this first engagement, I think,

01:04cements the relationship, the hard work that we have done together

01:08over so many years, because that was an incredible election result,

01:13a historic result and a real, real mandate for change.

01:19Thank you so much.

01:21The Labour leader won one of the largest parliamentary majorities

01:24in modern British history on Friday, making him the most powerful British leader

01:29since former Prime Minister Tony Blair.

01:32But he faces a number of challenges, including improving struggling public services

01:37and reviving a weak economy.
