Alas Pilipinas loses to Vietnam in FIVB Women's Challenger Cup knockout quarterfinals
Retain the core and allow the players to grow together. This is the key to improve the Alas Pilipinas women's volleyball team, according to setter and captain Jia De Guzman after it fell to Vietnam in the FIVB Women's Challenger Cup knockout quarterfinals, 14-25, 22-25, 21-25, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on July 5, 2024.

00:00Everyone is really communicated and invested in the game, so we are able to improve our game beyond the lockdown, so all we have to do is to retain the game, keep playing together and hopefully next time we see each other, we'll have a better game.
00:31I can't believe that we still have a lot of players who are still playing the game, so our coach has told us many times to be patient with ourselves and with the community.
00:43We've met them in March, they really stuck together all throughout this year, so that's what we need to improve.
00:53Do you have your message to the people who are supporting us?
00:56Thank you so much to everyone who is supporting us in the Philippines, here around the world.
01:03Last time I was here, I was here for around 25 years.
01:06Thank you for your support.
01:08We are really thankful that you are here.
01:10All of our efforts, all that we have given to the Philippines is really for you, so hopefully we'll see each other next time.
01:15Thank you so much.
01:17Thank you so much.
01:19Thank you so much.
01:21I feel like this is how it is, we have to fight for our rights in the Philippines.
01:26It's the same.
01:28We go back to the ground, we go back to the field, but we can't lose faith.
01:33We didn't realize it.
01:35This is how it is.
01:37Siya, we're talking about continuity, but it's important that you start that continuity in terms of the program of the Philippines.
01:48What are you working on?
01:50We're going against things that grew up inside the national dream.
01:54That's our goal.
01:56We grew up together inside the national dream.
01:58That's how you build friendship, that's how you build friendship, that's how you build a strong team in the long run.
02:02You can't expect that one will lose and the other will have adversity.
02:07Keep the same people, add new people, reinforce them.
02:11That's how you make a team.
02:13So that's what we're trying to do.
02:15Thank you.
