I, Chris Sinnott, being the Acting Returning Officer of the election held on Thursday 4th
00:08
July 2024, do hereby take notice that the number of votes recorded for each candidate
00:14
at the said election is as follows.
00:17
Holden Crowther, Benjamin Luke Richard, known as Ben Holden Crowther, Democracy for Chorley,
00:24
2,424.
00:27
Hoyle, Lindsay Harvey, the Speaker seeking re-election, 25,238.
00:35
Moore, Graham Harry, English Constitution Party, Independence for England, 1,007.
00:43
Powell Davis, Thomas, known as Martin Powell Davis, Trade Union Socialist Coalition, 632.
00:52
Tebbett, Mark Worsley, Green Party, 4,663.
00:59
The total number of votes rejected, someone's going to have to shout out because I didn't
01:04
write it down, Catherine.
01:08
1,198, thank you, and I do hereby declare that Lindsay Harvey Hoyle has been duly elected
01:15
as the new Acting Returning Officer of the election.
01:19
I'm going to turn it over to the Court to have a brief one-on-one interview with him.
01:34
First of all, can I say thank you to everybody who's taking part in tonight and getting the
01:39
results out.
01:41
Also, Returning Officer, police and everybody involved, those who've been at polling stations
01:45
all day today, I want to thank, of course, the people of Chorley, who once again re-elected
01:51
me as the Member of Parliament for Chorley.
01:55
It is such a pleasure to serve the best constituency in the country.
02:00
It is about delivery, it is about looking after Chorley, and that is why it has been
02:11
such a majority tonight, even better percentage-wise.
02:16
Thank you to the team that looks after me, my agent, David, the people who've been out
02:22
there delivering leaflets, I've got to say it's been a man of task, the few of us that's
02:27
been out there, thank you for what you've done.
02:29
Lots of true love has been lost, but it's paid the dividend we wanted, that Chorley
02:34
wanted an MP that delivers for Chorley, and that's what I'll continue to do.
02:41
I will work with the local authority to make sure we get the best for Chorley, and I will
02:47
go back to Parliament.
02:49
I will stand for Parliament as the Speaker, and if I do get re-elected Speaker, my reassurance
02:57
will be not only will we continue to get the best for Chorley, but I will also fight
03:03
for peace across the world.
03:04
Whether that's in the Middle East, whether that's in Europe, there is no room for wars
03:10
in the world today.
03:12
We need peace, I will continue to fight for peace.
03:15
It matters to me.
03:17
This result matters.
03:18
It's been one of the most difficult years, and this year when I lost my father, this
03:24
is the first time I've stood on this platform where he's not been here with me.
03:28
I've got to say, it's in his memory, this result tonight.
03:32
I've got to thank him and my wife Catherine for the support they've given me.
03:37
He was a proud trade unionist, one of the greatest trade unionist socialist MPs that
03:42
we've had in this country.
03:44
So I say to him, thank you for what you've taught me father, I will continue to deliver
03:48
for Chorley.
03:49
Thanks for everybody to making this election.
03:51
Thanks to Chorley for the country as well.
03:53
Let's continue with our good work.
03:55
Thanks everybody.
04:15
I'd like to just say thank you very much everyone for all of your hard work this morning.
04:20
I'm going to disappear very quickly now.
04:22
So thank you, drive safely, or however you're getting home, and have a good rest of your
04:26
days.
04:27
Thank you.
