Thank you very much. First of all, I'd like to say a very, very big thank you to all our
00:48
staff who have participated in this not general election process, but a very big constituency.
00:54
I don't like singling anybody out, but in particular Alison and Jen have done a fantastic
00:58
job, and actually their holidays have been cancelled, and that is sure to be a determination
01:02
for our democratic process. So I'm just going to declare the result of the Member of Parliament
01:20
for the Burnley constituency. On Thursday, the 4th of, sorry it's Friday now, but the
01:26

01:34
acting returning officer at the above election, do hereby give notice that the number of votes
01:40
recorded for each candidate at the said election is as follows. Gordon Bergvissel, Liberal

02:43

02:52
was entitled to, 36. Writing a mark by which the voter could be identified, 1. Being unmarked
03:02
for voting for uncertainty, 92. Rejected in part were 0. The total ballot papers issued
03:12
were 39,849, with a turnout of 53.2%. And I do hereby declare that Oliver David Ryan
03:23
is duly elected. So I'm just going to invite the candidates up on stage if they want to
03:37
make a speech. Thank you. So let's start with the winning candidate. Thank you. Let me start
03:50
by thanking the returning officer, all of the excellent staff, Birmingham Council, Handel
03:55
Council and the police for ensuring this has been a free and fair election. Thank you.
04:06
Labour is home. Country over party, stability over chaos, public service, future over past.
04:16
To those people who have put their trust in me and this changed Labour Party, maybe for the first time,
04:21
from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will not let you down. Through this campaign, Labour
04:29
have listened. I have listened. We need better public services, an NHS we can rely on, economic
04:36
stability, decent housing and growth for everyone in Burnley, Paddyham and Brightfield. Whether
04:44
you voted for Labour or not, I will work for you, for every person on every street.
04:50
I will be a strong voice for our families, for our children, for our pensioners, our
04:55
businesses and for prosperity and peace around the world, including in the Middle East and
05:02
in Gaza. I want particularly to thank my election agent, Sue Graham, my organiser Hannah, our
05:10
amazing team across Burnley, Paddyham and Brightfield, my family, especially my parents
05:15
and grandparents. I want to thank Anzac for his service as Member of Parliament over the
05:21
last few years and my greatest thanks go to the people of Burnley, Paddyham and Brightfield.
05:28
The hard work starts now. I will not let you down. Thank you.
