ACT's inner south health centre will be ready by 2027

The Minister for Health Rachel Stephen-Smith announced the location for the next health centre in Griffith.

00:00I've been out and about talking to people in Griffith and Narrabunda about this as a

00:04potential site for the Inner South Health Centre and received really positive response

00:09about that.

00:10The early feasibility work that we did for the Inner South did look, as we said in 2020,

00:16at the potential for finding some existing facilities that could be refurbished, but

00:20that wasn't an option and so building a purpose built facility here in Griffith for the Inner

00:25South community to meet the needs of the Inner South community is what this announcement

00:31is all about.

00:32Today, we are opening consultation with the community of the Inner South and the wider

00:37Canberra region to talk about what services they want to see in this health centre in

00:43their community.

00:44The consultation will be open from today until the 12th of August and we want to hear about

00:50people's engagement with the health system, what they think the demographics for this

00:55community means in terms of healthcare needs and we'll be bringing that information from

01:00the community together with what we know about the demographics of this area and what we

01:04know about the health services that are accessed by people in the Inner South.
